Vilakazi Street is a popular tourist destination, and is world famous for being the only street on the planet in which two Nobel Peace Price winners have lived - Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. This part of Orlando West, known during the apartheid era as “The Wild West”, is now a popular tourist destination and has many local attractions, including the houses of Nelson Mandela, Winnie Mandela and Desmond Tutu. Local restaurants or shebeens include the world-famous Wandie’s Place and Nambitha’s, and there are many places of historic significance nearby, such as the Hector Petersen Memorial, Regina Mundi Church, and Freedom Square. DIRECTIONS: To Vhavenda Hills Bed & Breakfast Take the N1 North past the Nasrec show grounds. Take the Soweto turn off into Soweto Highway. Pass through 4 sets of traffic lights and over a railway bridge. At the 5th set of traffic lights, turn left into Klipspruit Valley Road. Pass Orlando stadium on the left, and at the second set off traffic lights turn right into Khumalo Street. At the second street turn left into Mampuru Street, about 400 meters down you will see a grey double-storey house, number 11749.
