DESCRIPTION:

Do you dream of wide open views, walking along a forest path or sitting under a tree listening to the gentle sound of water flowing? What you need is a piece of peace, tucked away in a slumbering woodland valley between a tranquil stream and the foothills of the ancient Magaliesberg Mountains. Just one hour's drive from Johannesburg, you'll find Saamrus - pet-friendly, self-catering, comfortable and charming farm cottages surrounded by 500 hectares of unspoiled nature, bird life and walking freedom. A better rest than all the rest.

You can't be in the top ten if you don't get to the bottom of what pet-lovers want. If you would rather stay at home than leave the four legged members of your family behind, why not bring them along? Saamrus is a home-from-home for you and your best friend. The owners of Saamrus Guest Farm: Chris, Annatjie and Leonard (their son) treat their two dogs Jackie and Riffels, the six cats as beloved family members. They understand completely that while you want comfort, safety and charm for yourselves, you want the same for your pets - after all, they are your four legged children.

That's why Saamrus is one of the top ten pet-friendly getaways in the country. A special pet welcome awaits all breeds of socialised and house-trained dogs. Even cats and caged birds will feel at home. Each cottage has a fenced garden to keep your pets safe while you take a nap or generally indulge in some human-only relaxation. When you're strolling with your dogs along the river banks or heading out on longer hill-rambles on the 500 hectares of Saamrus walking freedom, we invite your dog to run off the lead. Walkies freedom, oh joy!

The condition of the 2km Saamrus farm road depends on the weather.
The 2km private road leading to Saamrus is a gravel farm road. It is not maintained by any road authority, but by the dedicated Saamrus staff. The condition of the road depends on the weather. In the rainy season all their good work can be washed away in one rainy night leaving the surface very slippery and full of potholes.

For about two weekends every year, the Saamrus Plan B springs into action - all cars has to park safely in the car park at Magalies Hotel. The parking has a 24 hour security guard and security gate. Magaliesburg is only 10km from Saamrus. You will be picked up and delivered safely to your cottage and back to your car again on departure. For those two weeks of the year diff-lock bakkies and 4 x 4 vehicles have lots of fun and exclusive use of the farm road!

When the road is dry during summer, it is accessible by car, but if you come with a very low sporty car, you will find it quite difficult.
