DESCRIPTION:

Accommodation

The B&B consists of 2 fully-carpeted bedrooms, each with 2 x 3/4 beds and each bed has imported blankets, quilts and electric blankets. The rooms have their own TV's with DSTV. Bedroom 1 has a bathroom with bath, separate shower, toilet and basin; bedroom 2 has a shower, toilet and basin.

Between the two bedrooms is a common space for sitting, dining area and a guest toilet. There is a fully fitted kitchen at the disposal of the guests with fridge, stove, microwave oven, coffee machine, toaster and kettle. Complimentary tea (English and Rooibos), coffee (Nescafe and de-caf), sugar, milk, and rusks are provided in the kitchen. Chocs and snacks are stored in the fridge at reasonable cost on an honour system. In the bedrooms guests will find a complimentary bottle of water and a sweet. Guest amenities are provided in the bathrooms.

No new wooden furniture was purchased for the B&B. The rooms are either furnished with family antiques or reproduction furniture made from Oregon floorboards.

Breakfast

A health conscious picnic breakfast basket will be offered consisting of yoghurt, fruit, freshly baked croissant, muffin, muesli, cheese wedge, marmalade, jam and butter. A brown paper bag will be provided for guests to pack up and take any items not consumed at breakfast. Any guests preferring an English breakfast will be accommodated without ado.

The Garden

The garden is fully organic; therefore very bird friendly but subject to the munching of various pests and also the vagaries of the weather. We do use organic sprays, either Margaret Roberts or Ludwigs, on the roses as the white eyes can't keep up with the aphids.

Attractions and Activities

18 on Saffraan is well situated within easy reach of numerous shopping centres; Cresta, Northgate, Randridge Mall, Clearwater etc. There are loads of restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Various hospitals such as Wilgeheuwel, Flora Clinic and Olivedale are close. For tourists there are many places of interest within striking distance, Walther Sisulu Botanical Gardens, Kloofendal Nature Reserve, the Coca Cola Dome etc. It is a hop, skip and a jump onto the freeway system and access to the Cradle of Humankind, Montecasino, Silverstar Casino, Rhino and Lion park and so on.

Location

Lock-up parking is provided. The suburb is patrolled by a local security company. Anyone nervous about returning late at night is at liberty to contact the owner who will arrange an escort from the same security company. It must be mentioned that the owners have never felt the need to use this service; however any guest not sure of the area is most welcome.
