Tour Description
This is a full day visit to the poverty stricken “Townships” of Cape Town. Experience Township life, visit schools and be entertained by the school’s cultural groups, converse with the locals.
The tour starts with a visit to the District 6 Museum, followed by a drive through District 6. Visit a school in an “African” and “Coloured” area and be entertained by the school’s cultural groups. You will be exposed to singing, dancing, drumming, all of which will reflect a local and national culture.
You will also have the opportunity to converse with learners, teachers, parents and Sangomas. The occasion will definitely spark your imagination for a journal or dissertation research. In this regard, we can conduct your data collection and an analysis of this data and send it on to you, exclusive of the cost of the tour.
You will also have the opportunity to visit the Gugelethu Seven, the Amy Biehl and Trojan Horse monuments in the “townships”. These monuments were erected to honour the students who died in the struggle against apartheid. Finally, you will embark on a walk through the “township”, visit Tsoga (an environment resource and recycling centre), Guga S’ Thebe (an arts and crafts market) and the Eziko catering school and restaurant in Langa.
