Day 1: Johannesberg to Waterberg
We leave Johannesburg late morning and take the 2 hour drive north towards the malaria-free Waterberg region, where this mountain range snugly cradles the renowned Mabula Private Game Reserve, home to a mosaic of exceptional landscapes as well as an abundance of wildlife species. Check in, freshen up, enjoy some lunch and prepare for your afternoon game drive starting around 3h30 pm (winter) or 4h30pm (summer).
Game viewing is at its best with a backdrop of rivers, streams and stretches of open vistas. The reserve is home to all the ‘Big Five’ as well as over 60 species of mammals, numerous plants, reptiles and 300 bird species. The African python and Nile crocodile are also resident and using all their senses & experience, your Ranger will seek out the animals, stopping for anything of interest, possibly the spoor of hunting lions or a White Rhino.
Upon returning to the Lodge, a yummy dinner awaits, along with your first night sleep in the wild and untamed African bushveld.
Subject to availability, you have the choice of the following 2 very different options:

Day 2: Waterberg to Johannesberg
Your Ranger will awake you with coffee, tea and rusks before heading out into the sunrise to see what has been happening in the dead of night and follow spoor of animals on the move. You will also be lead on foot to discover sights which you would miss from a vehicle. With various birds in song, this truly is a beautiful way to bring on a new day in South Africa.
After your game activity you will return to the lodge to enjoy a delicious, hearty breakfast and some leisure time.
Leave the park and travel back to Johannesburg, arriving in the mid afternoon at your hotel or Tambo International Airport.
