SMS Direct 27km Run and Walk (Port Alfred)

The circular route is a mixture of town and rural country roads with most of the climbing over and done with in the first half of the race. Part of the second half is run on gravel roads as the race passes through farmlands and game-farming areas. The last five kilometres presents the opportunity for some quick downhill running.

The 10km race is run through the suburbs of Port Alfred. All category winners receive gold medals with the runners up, men who finish in less than two hours and women who finish in under 2h25 win silver medals. Other runners who cross the finish line before the cut off time receive bronze medals. If you run ten races you are awarded a permanent number. There are camping facilities available at the country club and the organisers put on a pasta party the night before the race.
