Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens in Port Elizabeth

Sixteen men’s teams will grace the playing fields, with the SA Vipers defending their 2007 title. SA Rugby will be entering the SA Vipers, a team preparing for the 7s World Cup in Dubai. Additionally, there are a number of international invitational teams already confirmed, namely French Froggies (France), British Army (UK) and the Samurai (UK).

The tournament will also see a number of provincial men’s teams taking part, these include Natal Sharks, Griquas, Eastern Province, Border, Free State and Golden Lions, also attending will be the University of Johannesburg, the University of Free State along with a Dragons Invitational team selected from the Blue Bulls area.

A huge crowd favorite remains the U19 section with local school teams playing a high paced, skillful game, these teams include Daniel Pienaar, Framesby, Grey High, Brandwag, Ithembilihle, Alexandre, Easy Fana Dragons, Despatch High, Lynx Johannesburg, Marlow, Pearson and the invitational Junk Yard Dog teams. This U19 section was won by a Welsh team in 2007, the Welsh URDD with boys from Cardiff, Newport and Llanelli. A new addition to our event will be the @tlantic Invitation team which is made up of players in the @tlantic schools sevens circuit. There is also a feeder U15 section, which is played in great spirit.

Then we come to the wonderful and exciting junior school section, which boasts an U11 and U13 age group. This is quality rugby in it’s purest form, with a number of future stars gracing the playing fields. Teams from the following schools will compete Sunridge, Grey Junior, Charlo, Seyisi, Lorraine, Altona, Easy Fana Dragons and the Junk Yard Dog invitational team.

XV's Celebrity Martch: SA Rugby Legends, the current Golden Oldie World Champions take on an OLD GREY Legends team. The last time these two teams met, Joel Stransky won the game in injury time.

Other XV man (old boy) games include Daniel Pienaar vs Brandwag, Framesby vs Andrew Rabie and Alexander Road vs Pearson.

When the rugby is over, the crowds will be thrilled by some of SA' s leading musicians such as EDEN, Shine4, Kurt Darren and DJ Ossewa.
