DESCRIPTION:
Suffield House (built c.1854) is a gracious Victorian house in the leafy suburb of Oatlands. We are conveniently situated to the city centre (0.6km), to Rhodes University (1.1km), to Peppergrove Shopping Mall and to most places of interest in historic Grahamstown.
ACCOMMODATION
The accommodation comprises three comfortable, self-contained units in a tranquil garden setting. Each individually-decorated unit has its own unique charm. Guests have full use of the pool and garden so you can relax and enjoy your stay with us.
The Annexe
Tucked away on the side of the house you will find 'The Annexe' which offers peace and privacy. This self-contained flat has high ceilings, gleaming wooden floors and sash windows. There is a tastefully decorated double bedroom, a kitchenette and a full bathroom. The Annexe opens out onto a cool patio which has tinkling wind chimes to help you to unwind.
The Coach House
The aptly-named 'Coach House' is a conversion of the stables at the back of this lovely old house. Today, the 'Coach House' provides family accommodation in a charming loft bedroom and a comfortable lounge-cum-dining room downstairs. The lounge has a double sleeper couch for a child or two. Off the lounge there is a neat kitchenette where you can prepare light meals. The 'Coach House' overlooks the garden and the swimming pool.
The Stable
The 'Stable' is a light, airy unit adjacent to the 'Coach House'. It comprises a double en suite bedroom and a pretty kitchenette with a dining area. The 'Stable' opens onto a long verandah with easy access to the garden and swimming pool.
ATTRACTIONS
Grahamstown or "Festival City" is host to the National Arts Festival and Sci-Fest. Situated in the malaria-free Eastern Cape, Grahamstown is close to a number of excellent game reserves which offer day trips as well as longer stays. Visitors wishing to enjoy the coast may choose between Port Alfred and Kenton-on-Sea (1 hr) or the rugged beauty of the Transkei Wild Coast (3-4 hrs). |
