DESCRIPTION:
St. Phillips is a double storey victorian home situated in Richmond Hill, one of the oldest and most historical parts of Port Elizabeth. The house was originally built in 1904 and was lovingly restored to its former glory in 2005. Our Guests can enjoy the warmth and homeliness of this grand old house and the friendly atmosphere of Richmond Hill. Take a stroll in our streets and parks, pick up a coffee at our popular bakery or deli or do some browsing in the antique and specialty shops in the area.
Accommodation
Our double, en-suite bedrooms are designed for the comfort of our guests. Our beds are large, top quality and very comfortable. All of our rooms are tastefully furnished, and fully equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, wireless internet connection and televisions with selected satellite channels to view.
In the main building, Room no.1 has a bath instead of a shower. All the other rooms have a shower and no bath. Room no 1, 2 and 3 have twin beds and lead onto balconies with spectacular city and sea views. Room no 4 and 5 each have a double bed and guests have access to our downstairs verandas. Room 6 is a large, ground floor room with twin 3/4 beds and an en-suite bathroom.
In our annex we have four double rooms, three equipped with king-size beds, and one with a double bed. All have en-suite bathrooms with showers.
Breakfast & Dining
Our tariff includes a traditional English or health breakfast. Breakfast times will be arranged with management and dinners are available by request. Any special dietary requirements will be catered for.
Facilities
A personal laundry service is available at the Bed & Breakfast by prior arrangement with management. There is enclosed off-street parking that is provided at no extra charge to our guests. Transport to and from the airport is available by prior arrangement. Guests have access to balconies and verandas with spectacular city and sea views. A Victorian fireplace kindles warmth in the living and dining areas. For your comfort we are a non-smoking establishment.
Location
St Phillips Bed & Breakfast is conveniently situated close to all of Port Elizabeth’s main attractions, restaurants and entertainment. A well structured freeway and road system situated very close to St. Phillips will get you anywhere in Port Elizabeth within 15 minutes. We are 10 minutes away from the airport, beaches, main business centre, major shopping centres and sports amenities including the Hill and Humewood Golf Clubs. St George’s Park Cricket Ground and The Oval Athletics Track and the Feather Market Hall is within 10 minutes walking distance from St. Phillips Bed & Breakfast. Our guests will also enjoy the historical museums, art gallerys, theatres, snake park and oceanarium, which are all 5 minutes drive from our Bed & Breakfast. St. Georges Park Cricket ground, the Oval Athletics track, the 2010 World Cup Soccer Stadium and the Feathermarket Hall are all within walking distance from St. Phillips B&B. |

Exit airport. Left into Allister Miller Drive (M11). Left at traffic lights into Heugh Rd (M9). Right at 6th Ave all the way to a T junction. Right at T into River Rd which becomes Target Kloof Rd then Albany Rd. Cross 3 sets of traffic lights (King Georges Rd, Cape Rd & Westbourne Rd). Immediately after Westbourne Rd turn right into Newington Rd. Next left at Dickens St, follow natural turn to right to Burgess which becomes Callington St. Right into St Phillips St to no.44 on the right next to the church.
From the West (Cape town, Knysna, Humansdorp)
Either ...
1.On approach to PE on the N2 take left offramp to Cape Rd (R102). Follow Cape Rd all the way through many traffic lights to Rink St. First left after Rink St into Glen St. Second right into Stanley St. First left into St Phillips St to no. 44 on the left before the church.
OR ...
2.Remain on N2 freeway until it meets the Settlers Way (M4) turnoff. Left feedoff onto the M4 towards the city. Left feedoff to Albany Rd (M7), cross traffic lights at Govan Mbeki Ave up Albany Rd. First left up St Patricks St, bear right into Mackay St. Right at circle into Callington St. 2nd left into St Phillips St to no.44 on the right after the church.
From the North (Johannesburg, Cradock , East London)
