DESCRIPTION:
Keith and Nondumiso welcome you to stay in our newly built thatched cottages on our organic citrus farm, just 10 minutes from the Addo Elephant National Park, and 45 minutes from the Port Elizabeth airport. The Addo area is malaria free. The Greater Addo area is a wonderful place to spend a holiday - this is where 3 industries come together - conservation, tourism and farming, meaning that your stay can be filled with many diverse, rewarding and educational experiences.
Accommodation
We have 6 rooms - 4 with double beds and 2 with singles. The cottages are safely nestled in the garden, where many indigenous shrubs and trees have been planted. Mornings are filled with varied birdsongs from the more than 60 species that we have seen on the farm.
Our cottages are designed to have a low energy demand. The thatched roofs are a delight to sleep under, and yet they retain heat in winter, and stay cool in summer. The solar water heaters make use of the hot African sun, and provide you with a relaxing shower after a long day having fun in Addo.
To minimise our impact on the environment even more, we provide guests with a toilet soaps and shampoos that are mild on the body, and free of harmful chemicals. Our linen is all washed in these ‘green’ products, which are effective cleaners, but rapidly and safely biodegradable.
Breakfast
Farmhouse breakfasts with organic orange juice and freshly ground mealie meal porridge will help you start your day off with a kick.

The Farm
Rosedale Organic Farm is a certified organic farm, producing citrus for the South African and overseas markets. We helped pioneer the growing of organic citrus in South Africa and are able to farm and live sustainably without the use of synthetic pesticides or fertilisers.
We combine the use of age old farming methods with modern scientific techniques to grow food that is healthy, nutritious and pesticide free. Our clean and complex environment has rewarded us with a great increase in the number of birds that have made our farm their home.
Our attitude towards our farming and guests is very straightforward - keep it simple and keep it natural. We believe that healthy soil leads to healthy plants which leads to healthy people. As a result, we try to produce as much organic food for our guests as possible - and when we have to buy outside, we make sure that it is from a farmer we trust. If you want to learn more about our farming methods, a 1 hour walking tour is available. |
