DESCRIPTION:

Dockside Guest House is situated directly across from the picturesque small boat harbour on the East Bank of Port Alfred, in the Eastern Cape. Each of our rooms have magnificent views overlooking the small boat harbour, the Kowie River and the unique arched Kowie Bridge which displays multicoloured lights each evening. Dockside Guest House is managed by owners Des and Pat Riggien, and you will experience warm and friendly hospitality throughout your stay. We measure our success over the past nine years by the high return rate of our guests.

ACCOMMODATION


All five rooms are elegantly furnished and feature the following:
• DSTV
• Bar fridge

• Private outside patios with table and chairs

Harbour Room: Queen bed, luxury white linen, dressing room, luxury bathroom with large triangular bath and large shower. Two comfortable chairs and table for relaxing and enjoying the view.

African Room and Sea Room: Double bed with en-suite bathroom with shower, dressing table and chair.

Ethnic Room: Twin beds with en-suite bathroom with shower.

Egyptian Room: Queen bed, luxury private bathroom with large bath and large shower across the passage.

FACILITIES


The rooms have private outside entrances and we have secure off road parking. Relax and unwind in the large lounge while watching the activities in the harbour and on the river. Sit in our our tranquil tree lined garden where numerous birds make their homes and watch the local fisherman bring home their catch.

LOCATION


Situated opposite the small boat harbour on the East Bank. We are a mere 500 meters from the town center and just three minutes from the nearest beach.

PORT ALFRED


Situated midway between East London and Port Elizabeth, exactly 150 kilometers either way. Known for the wonderful temperate climate, pristine endless beaches, friendly 'village' atmosphere and magnificent Kowie River, which flows out to the warm Indian ocean.

Escape from the hustle and bustle. Suspend time. Experience the serenity, tranquility and absolute beauty this little town has to offer. With breathtaking views and inescapable beauty, Port Alfred is one of the few places that offer a remarkable range of activities from fishing, sand boarding, surfing, canoeing, horse riding across the beaches, hiking and two well known golf courses. DIRECTIONS:

From East London
150 Km from East London using the R72: If you are travelling from East London you will pass the marina on your left and the small boat harbour. Just before the Kowie River bridge turn right into Pascoe Crescent (if you look to your right you will see our house which has a flat roof and is painted white ) and immediately turn right into the first street (Park Road) to your right. Carry on to the right, up the hill and take the first road (Ferndale) to your left and immediately first road (Caxton Lane) to your left. Go down the steep hill and we are last house on the left. There are numerous signs on the road to assist.

From Port Elizabeth
150 Km from Port Elizabeth using the R72: If you are travelling from Port Elizabeth, after going through the robots as you drive over the Kowie River bridge you will see our house. Turn immediately after the bridge, first street to your left (Pascoe Crescent) and immediately first street (Park Road) to your right. Carry on to the right, up the hill and take the first road (Ferndale) to your left and immediately first road (Caxton Lane) to your left. Go down the steep hill and we are last house on the left.

From Johannesburg or the Free State
If you are travelling from Johannesburg the best route to take is via Aliwal North, Jamestown, Queenstown. As you enter Queenstown take the turn off to the right to Whittlesea, Fort Beaufort. As you enter Fort Beaufort take the turn off to the right to Grahamstown. As you approach Grahamstown following the sign to the left to Port Alfred. On entering Port Alfred you will reach a stop street at a T-junction (East London – Port Alfred). Turn right. You will pass the marina on your left and the small boat harbour. Just before the Kowie River bridge turn right into Pascoe Crescent (if you look to your right you will see our house which has a flat roof and is painted white ) and immediately turn right into the first street (Park Road) to your right. Carry on to the right, up the hill and take the first road (Ferndale) to your left and immediately first road (Caxton Lane) to your left. Go down the steep hill and we are last house on the left. Follow the signs marked Dockside Guest House.
