Welcome to Artists Cottages, a secluded mountainside retreat just beyond the harbour and outside the charming village of Gordon’s Bay in the Western Cape. Set at the foot of the mountain, this peaceful haven commands sweeping panoramic views across False Bay, the Helderberg wine estates and all the way to iconic Table Mountain on the horizon. Here, life slows to the rhythm of the ocean — from dolphins dancing in the bay and seals at play, to the unforgettable sight of Southern Right whales breaching in winter. As evening falls, spectacular sunsets wash the sky in colour before giving way to star-filled African nights.

Self Catering Accommodation

Our self-catering suites are thoughtfully designed for comfort, privacy and relaxation. Each suite has its own private access alongside the main residence and opens onto a balcony with outdoor furniture, allowing you to soak up the magnificent ocean, garden and pool views.

Inside, you’ll find a comfortable sitting area, air conditioning and fan, TV with DSTV, free Wi-Fi, and a dedicated workspace. The kitchenette is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, toaster, induction plate or airfryer/cooker, and tea- and coffee-making facilities — ideal for light meals at your leisure. Modern en-suite bathrooms feature showers, hairdryers and quality finishes, creating a stylish and practical home-away-from-home.

Nature lovers can step straight onto the scenic Danie Malan Trail from the property, hiking through indigenous fynbos and proteas to breathtaking viewpoints overlooking the town, harbour and bay.

Gordons Bay is 40 minutes away from Cape Town International Airport, and is the Heart of the Cape, being centrally located to Somerset West, Strand and Stellenbosch, is close to Cape Town, Franschhoek and Hermanus with many things to do and is tourist destination attractions within 40km!

Gordons Bay is on the popular coastal route between the Strand, Rooi Els, Bettys Bay, and Pringle Bay on the way to Hermanus.

The coastal road is a very popular drive and is enjoyed by cyclists & runners too. Enjoy swimming at our Blue Flag Bikini beach which is only 3km from the venue, or a little further on, the bigger Main beach with its charming beachfront shops, restaurants, and pubs and famous for one of the best bookstores in the cape, hosting an old Mercedes Benz motorcar on the roof!
