Stone Cottage is a charming self-catering holiday cottage set on a working farm amidst the scenic Balela Mountains, approximately 50 kilometres from central Newcastle. This peaceful setting lies along the boundary of the historically significant Majuba Mountain, site of the First Boer War battle in 1882, making it a superb base for exploring the region’s rich history and heritage.

Our beautifully restored Stone Cottage offers the ideal escape for families or friends seeking a blend of heritage charm and contemporary comfort. Accommodating up to six guests, this historical gem combines old-world character with all the modern amenities you'd expect for a relaxing and memorable stay. It’s your home away from home, inviting, tranquil, and thoughtfully equipped for any season.

The cottage features a spacious living area with a fireplace, a full kitchen complete with an oven, dishwasher, and microwave, and a dedicated dining area for shared meals. Guests can unwind with DSTV, Netflix, or simply take in the garden views from the private patio furnished for outdoor lounging and dining. A hot tub, braai area, and beautifully maintained garden make outdoor living just as enjoyable.

Inside, comfort is paramount: electric blankets, a fan, a heater, and non-feather pillows ensure a restful night’s sleep in any weather. The bathroom includes both a separate tub and shower, plus thoughtful touches like bathroom amenities, a hairdryer, and ironing facilities.

Additional conveniences include Wi-Fi, a cleaning service, and coffee/tea-making facilities, so all you need to do is arrive and enjoy.
