About Mount Ceder Camping

Mount Ceder Camping offers camping in three private camp sites in Cederberg. The Cederberg region is only two and a half hours from Cape Town and yet the landscape is completely different from that of the Mother City; wilder and warmer with raw, dramatic beauty.

Self Catering Accommodation

Mount Ceder Camping offers three private self catering campsites, each with their own ablution facility that consists of a kitchen area, shower and toilet.

There is no electricity. Gas and solar power only. Solar powered lights, gas geyser and two plate stove.

Each site can accommodate up to six people. Beautiful surrounding mountains and a short walk to the river.

Activities

• Hike and bike on the property or walk to the waterfall and to the top of the mountains
• Swim and canoe in the river
• Go horse riding into the wilderness. Choose from 1 hour, 2 hour or half day rides.
• Explore the area and find some ancient rock-art
• Discover your own fossils - but remember to leave them where you found them
• Harvest your own olives (in season) and pickle them at home to impress your friends
• Gaze at the stars and make a wish!

Dining

There is a small shop for essential supplies like milk and firewood and the Old Millhouse Restaurant offers hearty meals for those who don't want to cook! Bookings for dinner are essential and should be made 24hrs in advance. Dinners are a 3-course set menu.

Area Information

Mount Ceder is also within driving distance of many other of the Cederberg attractions and various 4x4 routes. The mountains are noted for dramatic rock formations and San rock art. The dominating characteristic of the area is sharply defined sandstone rock formations (Table Mountain group), often reddish in colour.
