Accommodation

Le Grand Jardin Villa offers refined accommodation across the stately Sir Herbert Baker style Manor House and the separate Pool Pavilion. Together, they provide six suites for twelve guests, with space for three additional children by prior arrangement. With three suites in each building, the property lends itself perfectly to family gatherings, milestone celebrations and long overdue reunions. The gracious garden adds its own charm, featuring a Victorian style Looking Glasshouse, an elegant setting for weddings and events, while the Floral Chapel sits quietly beside the dam and provides a smaller, intimate venue.

The Manor House features three en suite bedrooms. The Dream Suite, the master bedroom, includes a king size bed along with a bath and shower. The Garden Suite, ideal for children, offers a double bed and a single bed with a full en suite bathroom. The Vineyard Suite has a double bed and its own shower room. A central entertainment area upstairs creates a relaxed hub, complete with fireplace for those evenings when you want to slow down and enjoy a bit of old fashioned comfort.

Downstairs, the living spaces include a fully equipped kitchen with an AGA stove, a formal dining room seating ten, a striking blue gin bar and a tasting room with a private cellar for wines from the sister estate, Le Grand Domaine. A generous drawing room, study and library open onto a covered terrace that overlooks the gardens and pool. Throughout the house, carefully selected art, sculpture and antiques create an atmosphere of heritage and warmth, reminding you that this is a home filled with character rather than a polished hotel.

The Pool Pavilion contains three additional suites and a fully equipped kitchenette. The Rockit Family Suite includes a king size bed and two single beds with a full en suite bathroom, making it an ideal space for families. The Full Bloom Suite offers a king size bed and a full en suite bathroom. The Into the Wild Suite is positioned on the lower level, has a queen size bed and a full en suite bathroom, and looks out over the dam. Together, the Pavilion accommodates eight guests, and all suites include air conditioning, heated towel rails and underfloor heating. Two suites open directly to the pool, and the lower level suite enjoys its own private outlook.

The estate offers no shortage of simple pleasures and adventure. Row a handcrafted wooden boat across the peaceful dam or shoot straight into the water from the zipline if you want to make a splash with style. Families can challenge each other to croquet, boules or French cricket on the lawn, or relax in the giant Teepee overlooking the dam. Cool off in the eco pool, unwind in the secluded Jacuzzi with its sweeping views then follow it up with a steam session or a spa treatment right in your villa. No fuss, no queues, just proper relaxation.

The garden is open for you to explore. Children can clamber up to the pirate lookout on the pizza deck, discover the showman's caravan or even learn to drive the estate's vintage 1980s Mini Clubman under the watchful eye of the property manager. Join the head gardener to pick fresh flowers and create a bouquet, and mark your visit by planting a remembrance rose in the rose garden, a tradition that adds a sentimental touch for returning guests.

Location & Activities

The estate team can arrange a variety of day tours. A visit to the Dylan Lewis Sculpture Garden comes strongly recommended, and the gardens at Babylonstoren Wine Estate are worth every minute. Sports lovers will find padel courts at the Woodmill and several golf courses within easy reach.

Le Grand Jardin and its sister estate, Le Grande Domaine, are positioned along the Stellenbosch Wine Route, while the Franschhoek, Paarl and Helderberg routes are a comfortable drive away. Cape Town is only 45 minutes from the property, making this an excellent base for sightseeing and day trips while still enjoying complete peace on your return.
