Lazuli Bush Lodge is a luxurious and discreet self-catering lodge, accommodating up to eight people, situated within Kuleni Game Park, a securely fenced park 18 kilometres from Hluhluwe. It stands in 150 hectares of pristine, indigenous sand forest in the heart of the Elephant Coast on the eastern seaboard of South Africa, a conservation area of unparalleled diversity. Kuleni Game Park has its own game, but no predators, thus allowing guests to follow walking trails through the park.
Lazuli is a secluded, secure and private haven where one can be alone or with friends, lying at the private swimming pool or sitting around the fireplace, enjoying quiet walks and viewing the trees, the birds and the plains game. It is a wonderful place for a retreat because there are many spots that invite self-exploration and it's perfect for couples in need of uninterrupted time together.
Lazuli Bush Lodge only takes one booking at a time and visitors always have the entire lodge to themselves. It is perfect for business and leisure use, for families with children over six years old and for friends.
The Main Lodge
The main lodge houses the living areas - a dining area, conversation area around the fireplace, a comfortable lounge area with ceiling fans and an outdoor patio with dining area next to the private swimming pool. Huge sliding doors fold back into a recess to allow the breeze to give the feeling of being outdoors. A gas barbecue is located next to the pool deck.
The main lodge is equipped with DStv (satellite television), a DVD / CD player and VCR, a high quality, surround-sound HiFi system as well as an ice-making machine. Outside is a water hole, and if you are lucky, you might spot an animal coming for its early morning drink. A fully-fitted, high-quality farmhouse style kitchen includes microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, and a full-time housekeeper is on site to clean up, make beds and wash dishes.
Bedroom Suites
The sleeping accommodation consists of four free-standing bedroom suites away from the main lodge. The suites are positioned for privacy and appreciation of the bush and each have their own private deck. Two suites have king-size four poster beds and the other two suites each have two single beds, all extra length and cocooned to embrace the forest.
The suites each have a dressing area, an open bathroom with a luxury bath and vanity, separate toilet, outside shower, and sitting area with a comfortable sofa and writing desk. They are equipped with air conditioner, hairdryer, and tea and coffee facilities and quality linen and towels. Enjoy outdoor showers in each suite which are especially captivating in the dappled light of day.
Lazuli is within easy reach of Sodwana Bay, Cape Vidal and False Bay, within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a World Heritage Site.
Close by are the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve, the private Phinda Game Reserve both which offer Big Five viewing; and pristine beaches along the Indian Ocean which offer amongst the world's finest opportunities to snorkel and scuba dive, turtle tours and whale watching. Adventurous pursuits such as canoeing, microlighting, quad biking, horse riding and many more may be enjoyed.

Beautiful self catering exclusive use lodge, set in KZN forest, perfect for our multi generational family (8 yrs to 85 yrs). The lodge provides ample space for relaxation, escaping the outside (and each other), with several lounges of varying heights to allow for different conversations to blossom, a well equipped kitchen, large deck with swimming pool, sun loungers and braai, as well as 4 separate en-suite rooms, a 20 second walk away from the living/socialising space. The bedroom suites are spacious and gorgeous; each with a private deck looking into the forest. Despite being fully glass fronted to allow for views, the forest offers each room privacy. Outside showers, large baths looking into the forest, massive comfortable beds, sofas and writing table all encourage relaxation, slowing down, and appreciating nature. The lodge itself, set in a private game reserve, allows for self-guided bush walks at leisure and morning runs (for the more active). During a morning walk, we saw giraffe, Wildebeest, zebra, warthog and Nyala. A male and female Nyala regularly visited our deck, whilst Bushbabies called at night. During our 8 night visit, we explored Hluhluwe, St Lucia and more local highlights, such as a private game drive at Bayalq and a tour of Zulu Croc. 3 hours drive from DUR airport. Highly recommended as a relaxing getaway and a chance to reconnect. Sleeps 8 max, across 2 twins and 2 king bedrooms, each en-suite.

We stayed at Lazuli 4 nights with a couple of friends and children. It was a wonderful experience. The place is truly enchanting. Totally surrounded by greenery. The main wooden block with large sliding windows houses a well-equipped kitchen, a dining room, a bar station and a living room with very comfortable sofas and a splendid fireplace. Outside there is a grill, a large table and a wonderful swimming pool. In front there is a small lake with fish, tadpoles and frogs which were excellent entertainment for the children. The rooms, scattered throughout the estate and connected to each other by wooden walkways, are very beautiful. They too are completely immersed in vegetation, very private and with large windows from which you can see the many animals that roam the area. One morning I even came across a Kudu that had gone to the pond to drink. But there is also no shortage of opportunities to see monkeys, Busch Babies and many other animals. A few minutes from the Lodge there is also a restaurant (which also offers take away) and a small grocery shop. We had a really good time and the children had a lot of fun. We hope to return soon.
