Itinerary

  1. DAY 1: Port Elizabeth to Stetlerville to Graaff-Reinet

    Leave for Stetlerville, travel via Wolwefontein to Steytlerville – to a well established farm with plenty to offer tourist - the Owners will be more than happy to discuss angora farming. After lunch leave for Jansenville and here visit SA Mohair Headquarters and the Sid Fourie Museum for a historical background on angora farming. Leave for Graaff-Reinet. On arrival at the guest house, enjoy a traditional South African braai (BBQ) and the locally brewed Withond.

    OVERNIGHT: Karoopark Guest House (or similar)

  2. DAY 2: Graaff-Reinet to Valley Of Desolation to Nieu-Bethesda to Graaff-Reinet

    After breakfast, leave for the Valley Of Desolation then continue onto Nieu-Bethesda and visit the owl house – a very famous landmark in Nieu-Bethesda. Travelling time is roughly 1 hour through the Karoo Landscape with Compassberg rising in the distance. After the Owl House travel to a guest farm for lunch and a visit to the Bushman Cave, detailed description of fossils found in the area and view an angora farm in operation. After lunch travel to one of the most beautiful Karoo Farms available in the region. Enjoy the splendour of a 18th century homestead, visit the art and ceramic studio where local women produce handwork such as fabric painting and ceramics of exceptional quality that is exported to various European countries. After an introduction to Merino sheep and Angora goats and sheep counting competition, enjoy a 4x4 trip up the mountain to see the sunset and enjoy sundowners and have a venison meal back at the house. After dinner we continue back to Graaff-Reinet with star gazing on route (if possible).

  3. DAY 3: Graaff-Reinet to Cradock to Port Elizabeth

    Leave for Cradock and visit the Mountain Zebra National Park and travel via Cradock to PE and have lunch at the Golden Valley Inn and visit an angora farm in operation nearby. We arrive back in Port Elizabeth before 18h00.
