Val d’Or Guest House is one of Franschhoek’s most luxurious and relaxing places to stay, offering easy access to all of Franschhoek’s many attractions and an idyllic country setting in which to shed city stress. Sink into plump couches in the lounge with its intimate bar, sip a sun downer on the terrace overlooking vineyards and mountains, or enjoy a pre-prandial sherry beside the fire on a winter evening. Luxuriate in one of the spacious, individually decorated en-suites, or opt for a quaint garden unit. Wake to birdsong and linger over a bountiful breakfast. ACCOMMODATIONThe Manor House The Manor House consists of a country kitchen, an elegant dining area and a cosy lounge and TV room with satellite television. There is also a sunny breakfast area where you can enjoy breakfast indoors or under the shady trees. There are four bedrooms consisting of one deluxe room with full bathroom, two deluxe rooms with shower bathrooms, and one standard room with shower bathroom. Each bedroom has its own private patio and different views of the surrounding mountains. All the rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, televisions, under floor heating and air conditioners to ensure your comfort throughout the year. The barbecue area may be used by all guests. The Barn House The Barn House comprises guest house accommodation as well as self-catering accommodation (sleeping 2 - 8 adults and children). It has a sunny breakfast room and a large entertainment / bar area stretching onto a wide patio facing the pool area. Wireless hot spot available. The Barn House offers four deluxe bedrooms: two family rooms on the ground floor, and two gallery rooms on the first floor. The deluxe family rooms have full bathrooms, lounges, sleeper couches (children under 12 stay free) and private patios. Upstairs the gallery rooms each have their own luxurious bathroom and share a sitting room and balcony for their own exclusive use. Al bedrooms have magnificent views of the swimming pool, garden, dams and surrounding mountains. Each has its own tea/coffee making facility, television, minibar, under floor heating and air conditioner to ensure your comfort throughout the year. The Deluxe Self-Catering Villa Attached to the Barn House is a deluxe self-catering villa with 2 bedrooms (sleeps 4), a shower and a full luxurious bathroom to share, a fully-fitted open-plan kitchen / dining / lounge area, a private patio on two sides and magnificent views of the beautiful gardens surrounding the pool area and ornamental dams as well as the surrounding mountains. Both bedrooms have their own tea / coffee making facilities, televisions, under floor heating and air conditioners to ensure your comfort throughout the year. A barbecue area is specifically reserved for this unit. Luxury Self-Catering Suites In addition to the above we have three luxury self-catering suites. Two of these have one bedroom, a shower bathroom and a fully fitted open-plan kitchen / dining / lounge area with a sleeper couch, suitable for children under 12 years, a lovely patio and views of the beautiful gardens, pool area and ornamental dams as well as the magnificent mountains. The third is a deluxe self-catering suite with 2 en-suite bedrooms, one with a shower bathroom and one with a full bathroom. It has a fully-fitted open plan kitchen / dining / lounge area, two patios (one completely private) and magnificent views of the beautiful gardens surrounding the pool area and ornamental dams as well as the surrounding mountains. To ensure your comfort throughout the year these suites have underfloor heating and air conditioners. DIRECTIONS: From Cape Town International Airport Take the N2 South towards Somerset West. After about 2km, take the first exit: the R300 to Bellville and Durbanville. The R300 will take you through to the N1. Turn onto the N1 towards Paarl. Thereafter follow the directions below. from Cape Town From Cape Town, take the N1 highway towards Paarl. Continue on the N1 until you reach Exit 47 the R44 Stellenbosch / (R101) Klapmuts / Wellington turn-off (about 19.5km after the R300 turn-off). Take this turn-off and turn right at the stop sign at the bottom of the turn-off. Go under the bridge and cross over the four-way stop indicating (R101). Continue on this road for about 500 metres where you will see the (R45) turn-off to Franschhoek to your left. Take this road and travel for approximately 9km until you reach the T-junction (you will see Vrede en Lust on your right and cross over an old rail track right before you reach the T-junction). At the T-junction turn right towards Franschhoek R45. You will find Kaap Agri and the Exel Petrol Garage on your left and Plaisir de Merle on your right. 1km further you will find Simondium Country Lodge on your left. Continue along this road and pass the R310 to Stellenbosch, which will be on your right about 2.1km further. Cross the Dwars River bridge, pass the Groot Drakenstein Games Club on your left and L’Omarins on your right. Continue past Graham Beck and Bridge House on your right and The Riverside on your left. You will then cross the Berg River bridge. From here it is approximately 2.9 kilometres until you find the Val d'Or Estate entrance on your left. Our tourism board are not up yet so please look out for us directly after Le Manoir de Brendel (which is situated on the right). Turn left onto a sand road. Travel along this road for approximately 700m and enter through the gates. At the fork, choose to go right and at the second fork, right again. This road will take you to Reception and Check-in.
