DESCRIPTION:
Perched on the side of the Karbonkelberg Mountain, you will enjoy magnificent sea and mountain views from Marlinsipike. As the sun sets behind the Sentinel Peak, enjoy a glass of fine South African wine as you view the flaming red sunset colours of Chapmans Peak from the the expansive balcony or from your comfortable lounge.
Close to the original fishing village, below you the boats chug in an out of the harbour and drop their days catch for processing, or the yachts making their way in to the Marina for a stop over in Hout Bay before they continue their journey. As the evening descends, the lights of the town and harbour reflect on the water as the seals bark in the bay.
Accommodation
Our 3-bedroomed apartment is fully secure and has its own entrance via an external staircase. It has two bathrooms of which one has a bathtub. The main bedroom has a queen size bed, en suite bathroom and access to the balcony. The second and third rooms have twin ¾ beds (which can be pushed together) and share a shower/toilet. There is a dining area, lounge and fully-equipped kitchen fitted with a gas hob, microwave and fridge.
Breakfast
A Continental breakfast is offered if required.
Activities and Attractions
After enjoying a leisurely breakfast on the balcony, take a drive or walk to soft, white sands of Hout Bay beach, visit one of the Hout Bay markets to buy clothes and curios, or take a trip on one of the boats that leave regularly for Duiker Island to view the seals, and sometimes whales or dolphins. If you enjoy hiking there are many locals trails. You could also visit the famous World of Birds or the battery of cannons that protected Hout Bay when sailing ships still braved the waters of the Cape of Storms.
Over the Constantia Nek , within 15 minutes drive from Hout Bay is the Constantia Valley with its many famous wine estates. Stop for lunch at the Groot Constantia restaurant or take a walk in Tokai Forest. On your return you can stop in at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and enjoy an afternoon break below beneath the shadow of Table Mountain.
Being conveniently placed between Cape Point and Cape Town, you can take Chapmans Peak Drive to Noordhoek with its endless beach. Then continue to Simons Town to see the famous penguins, and finally to Cape Point (Cape Town’s Southern tip) returning through the quaint village of Scarborough, past the Kommetjie Lighthouse and home.
You may also choose to drive to Table Mountain, the waterfront or the convention centre, returning via one of the exquisite beaches at Clifton or Camps Bay where you can enjoy an exotic seafood meal and enjoy the night life before returning to the quiet of Hout Bay. |
