DESCRIPTION:
Koornhoop Manor House is an owner-run guest house in the suburb of Observatory, Cape Town, just below the towering Devil’s Peak as it runs down to the Liesbeek River. Koornhoop Manor House is just 2 minutes walk from Observatory centre.
A few minutes from Cape Town city centre, yet close to all the major highways, Observatory is a cosmopolitan and vibey enclave still containing many of the original Victorian style buildings, populated by academics, professionals, artists and students. The village centre hosts an eclectic range of shops, restaurants, pubs and music venues. The area was named after the Astronomical Observatory which was founded in the 1800s and is to this day one of the worlds leading astronomical research establishments. ”Obz” is also home to Groote Schuur Hospital where the first heart transplant was carried out by Christian Barnard in 1967.
Accommodation
We have 8 en-suite double / twin rooms and two large furnished self catering apartments (3 bedrooms, lounge / dining and kitchen). All bedrooms are en-suite, with TV, free tea and coffee facilities and are meticulously cleaned daily. The lounge has a help yourself bar fridge, telephone, daily papers and lots of information on what to do.
