AccommodationHippo has twenty spacious standard rooms and five designer executive suites (double volume lofts with bedroom / bathroom on a mezzanine level). The rooms are en-suite, air-conditioned and come equipped with king size beds covered in fine cotton linen. (Two single beds also an option should you wish to share a room but not the bed!). The stainless steel kitchenettes (equipped with microwave, filter-coffee machine and fully stocked mini-bar) come in very handy for that late-night snack or early-morning coffee. Look out for it behind the cherry-wood sliding doors. Being a four-star graded hotel, there is of course no need to assure you of all the standard items one can expect (from electronic safe to hairdryer to the hip-branded umbrellas) - but definitely the personal computers are worth a mention! Yes, all rooms are equipped with a PC, not only offering you 24 hour complimentary high-speed internet access, but also featuring CD and DVD facilities. And of course, should you prefer to make use of your own laptop, then the wireless network will also keep you connected at no extra charge. ServiceThe friendly staff will happily assist you round the clock with any queries you might have - from booking a trip to the beautiful winefarms (only thirty minutes away) or recommending a spa treatment at the popular Wellness Warehouse right next door. Even the mundane tasks, e.g. arranging laundry or airport transfers, get taken care of with a smile! DiningThree excellent restaurants on the ground floor, all opening onto a veranda where you can breakfast at leisure (served until 6pm) or enjoy a late afternoon cocktail. Make sure you stay long enough to enjoy the different cuisines dished up by experienced chefs: Greens not only serves breakfast but also modern and ‘easy’ food (from wood fired pizzas to lamb chops and fresh salads). Then there is Fat Cactus offering Mexican food and tequilas that will keep you going back for more. And last but not least, Simply Asia for simply the best Thai food in town. Attractions and ActivitiesWhether you have your own transport (securely parked on the hotel's premises) or need to make use of the taxi service, you'll find yourself within a couple of kilometres at the foot of the famous Table Mountain or in the heart of the buzzing Waterfront. The white beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay are a short drive from there, and for those wanting to venture a bit further, don’t miss out on a scenic drive to Cape Point. |

DIRECTIONS: From N2 / De Waal Drive • Keep in the left hand lane and take the Mill Street turnoff. • Carry along the road, Orange Street, past Gardens Centre & Mount Nelson Entrance. • At the first set of traffic lights after having passed MN, turn left into Rheede Street. • At stop, turn left into Kloof Street. • First road to your right is Park Road… turn to your right! • Hippo will be on your left, nr 5 - 9, upstairs from Greens Restaurant • Parking: on your left, just after Simply Asia Restaurant, security will open the gates for you. From N2 / Waterfront Entrance • Once you come off the highway and reach the traffic lights, carry on straight up this road (Buitengracht Street). • You’ll pass another 5 sets of traffic lights after this. Once you’ve passed the 4th set, look out for a Caltex Garage on your left and shortly after this you’ll be approaching the 5th set. • Once you’ve crossed these traffic lights, the first road to your left will be Park Road. Turn to your left and Hippo will be on your right, nr 5 - 9, upstairs from Greens Restaurant. • Parking: on your right, just before Simply Asia Restaurant, security will open the gates for you. |
