The Guest House
Cotswold House, which opened in 1990 as a guest house, is a colonial Cape Dutch style home and built in the late 1940’s. It was used by the second to last Governor-General of South Africa, Major Gideon Brand Van Zyl as his retirement home. It has lovely views of Table Mountain, Lion’s Head, Signal Hill, Table Bay, Milnerton Golf Course (the only true links golf course in South Africa) and the lagoon. The endless white sandy Milnerton beach is an easy stroll away, where you can enjoy watching the sun set, admire the skill of the kite surfers, or enjoy a drink with your dinner at "Maestro’s on the Beach".
A gracious home, Cotswold House provides you with a home-from-home feel. You will be warmly welcomed as a guest, and depart feeling like a friend. Here you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, relax around the pool while deepening your tan, read a book from the library under a tree in the garden, enjoy a glass of wine in the Governor’s Bar or plan your trip with the assistance of your well informed host.

Take the N2 towards City / Stad
Continue till ‘Exit 9 North - M5 Milnerton / N1 city’, take this turn off to the left to loop onto the M5.
Continue for about 2 km’s till the road ‘forks’. Keep to the left and follow ‘N1 / City’.
Continue till the very next exit, ‘Exit 4 – R27, Milnerton, Paarden Eiland, West Coast’. Take care with this exit as it has a very short off-ramp and it is upon you before you know it. It is immediately after the bridge under which the road passes. Loop over the N1 onto the R27. The harbour industrial area will be on your left and a light industrial area will be on your right (Paarden Eiland). Continued, see below.
From Paarl along the N1
Continue till ‘Exit 4 – R27, Milnerton, Paarden Eiland, West Coast’, which is the next exit after the M5/Muizenberg/Milnerton exit. Take care with this exit as it has a very short off-ramp and it is upon you before you know it. It is immediately after the bridge under which the road passes. Loop onto the bridge over the N1 onto the R27. The harbour industrial area will be on your left and a light industrial area will be on your right (Paarden Eiland). Continued, see below.
From the Centre of Cape Town & The Waterfront
Take the N1 in the direction of Paarl, out of the city centre. Take the second exit off the N1: “R27, Milnerton, Table View, West Coast”. The harbour industrial area will be on your left and a light industrial area will be on your right (Paarden Eiland). Continued, see below.
Continuation:
Pass through 5 sets of traffic lights. The palm-tree-lined lagoon will then be on your left with the lighthouse in the distance. At this traffic intersection with Woodbridge Island on the left, turn right into Loxton Road, away from the lighthouse. Take the very first left into Ascot Road, then almost immediately first left into Cotswold Drive, which is a slip road parallel to Ascot Road. Once you are in Cotswold Drive, take the second left (there is a red post box opposite the turn-off), which is still Cotswold Drive. After about 100m, take the left fork, which is still Cotswold Drive. This will lead you into a cul-de-sac facing the lagoon.
Cotswold House is at the end of the cul-de-sac, on the right hand side, Number 6, opposite 19 Cotswold Drive. The house is a Cape Dutch style house, creamy in colour, with 2 palm trees in the drive way.
