DESCRIPTION:
Blue Gum Country Estate is a 4 star guest lodge hidden in a valley that ascends towards the small town of Stanford, just outside Hermanus. The estate is a working wine farm and developing vineyards. The delightful Country Estate, nestled among ancient Blue Gum trees, overlooks the leafy banks of the Klein Rivier and encourages guests to relax in tranquil beauty and endless luxury.
ACCOMMODATION
Blue Gum Country Estate offers luxurious Manor House Rooms, decorated in a African Colonial style, and Mountain View Rooms, decorated in an English country style. All rooms have private verandahs with sprawling views of the vineyards or gardens, Klein Rivier Mountains and surrounding valley. Delightful interleading family room options are available for those with children.
All rooms offer mini-bar facilities, select satellite channels, full bathrooms and complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits.
DINING
Blue Gum Country Estate is synonymous with an unforgettable food experience. A sumptuous cold buffet and traditional hot English breakfasts are served daily and the evening 3 course gourmet meals are served by candlelight in the elegant dining room.
COUNTRY VILLA
This magnificent, fully furnished home is a perfect fit for one or two families sharing. The house is exceedingly spacious with a lovely fully equipped kitchen, relaxed lounge area, outdoor patio area with a private swimming pool as well as a formal dining area. Additionally the house offers a large LCD TV with full satellite, a bar area and a large family lounge with board games, fireplace and comfortable French Provence style furniture. Guests have a choice of either self catering or dining at the gourmet Blue Gum Restaurant.
WEDDINGS
Weddings at Blue Gum are tailormade to suit the individual couple. Summer weddings under the Blue Gum tree overlooking the pond and vineyards are always a favourite, although Winter weddings are proving to run a very close second for brides who prefer a wedding by the fireside along with red wine and delicious, hearty winter food. The Blue Gum restaurant caters for the smaller more intimate wedding of up to 100 guests.
CONFERENCES
Blue Gum is the perfect conference retreat. The lodge offers a private conference room with views overlooking the valley and vineyards. Our conference facility can hold up to 12 delegates, however larger conferences can be arranged. Blue Gum is great for brainstorming as it offers a relaxed atmosphere to promote creative ideas and clear thinking. There are many activities on and around the estate which are great for team building exercises - such as paintball, quad biking, kayaking, boat based whale watching and many more.
ACTIVITIES
Bluegum provides guests with an abundance of activities to enjoy on the grounds, including a pool area, hiking, leisurely walks, mountain-bike riding, boule, bird-watching, tennis and various board games for a lazy afternoon's entertainment.
The Stanford area offers excursions such as the Klein Rivier Cheese Factory, Birkenhead Micro-Brewery, a leisurely boat trip down the Klein Rivier, wine-tasting at one of the many world-class wine estates, White Shark Cage Diving, trout fishing and horse riding to name a few. Hermanus and Gansbaai, just a 30 minute drive from Blue Gum, offer the best land and boat based whale watching in the world, fine restaurants, African crafts, organic markets and excellent golf courses. |

From the Garden Route
If travelling from the Garden Route the R326 turn off (to the left) to Stanford is about 10 km after you pass through the town of Riviersonderend. Continue from *

If travelling from Cape Town via Hermanus, proceed through Hermanus, following the signs to Stanford / Gansbaaio. Continue from *
* As you approach the town of Stanford there is a two way stop. Turn left (onto the R326) past the Birkenhead Brewery, and proceed for 7 km, at which point you will see our turn off, at the cheese factory. Follow our signs on the gravel road all the way to the end of the road.
