Amblewood Guest House is situated in the bustling village of Hout Bay just 20 minutes outside the beautiful city of Cape Town. Surrounded by mountains and with panoramic views of the bay and the ocean, Amblewood offers peace and tranquillity. The mature shrubs and trees in our garden attract many birds of different varieties including the Cape White Eye, Sunbirds, Guinea fowl and many more. Bed & Breakfast AccommodationOur six en-suite bedrooms are individually and stylishly designed with great comfort in mind. Our spacious and sunny Loft Suite has a lounge area with TV and an extra large balcony - perfect for watching the sun set while sipping a glass of wine. Breakfast:A full English and Continental breakfast is served in leisurely comfort on the pool deck, on warm summer mornings, or on the enclosed patio. Attractions in the AreaUpmarket stores, curio shops, banks, cafes and restaurants are all within walking distance and the beach is 10 minutes away by car. Tourist attractions include The World of Birds, which is the largest bird and small mammal sanctuary in Africa, Chapman’s Peak Drive, the Sunday craft market and a variety of mountain hikes. Seven golf courses are within easy driving distance, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens is 15 minutes away and the Cape Winelands are 30 minutes by car. The V&A Waterfront and the Table Mountain cable car are around the corner! Hout Bay boasts a beautiful and safe bathing beach and fine mountain walks with indigenous plants of over 1100 species - making it one of the richest botanical areas in the world. Proteas are among the many Fynbos species one finds in abundance. Fishing charters, horse-riding, sailing and boat trips are easily arranged and we are happy to organise airport shuttles, car hire, restaurant bookings and day tours if needed. DIRECTIONS: From Cape Town International Airport Take the N2 to Cape Town. Approximately 13.9km later take the Muizenberg/ Kirstenbosch off-ramp (M3). Continue along this road until the first set of traffic lights. Turn right following the signs to Kirstenbosch/ Hout Bay (M63). Continue along this road passed Kirstenbosch main gate until you reach a T-junction. Turn right up the hill (still M63) and follow winding, forested road for quite a while. When you reach the Constantia Nek (sic) roundabout, turn right down the hill following the signs to Hout Bay(M63). Continue along Hout Bay Main Road until you see a Shell Petrol Station on your left. Immediately after this is Andrews Road. Turn left into Andrews and then first right into Darling. The third road on your left is Skaife. Turn left into Skaife and continue up the hill. Amblewood is the third house from the top of the road (which is a dead end) on the left. The number is 43 and the name is on the gate. |
