Attractions & Activities

We cannot capture in a single frame, the superb panoramic view of the majestic Swartberg Mountain Range enjoyed from the south patio - even the dining room and kitchen boast this magnificent view! Guests love to dine el fresco on the private north patio, where the openness stretches far and wide, all the way to the Karoo Plains and the far distant hills.

The delightful village of Prince Albert is within easy strolling distance (1 km) of Aloe Cottage, and offers a variety of places of interest and restaurants. A gentle walk on Gordon’s Kopje Nature Reserve is accessed a few metres from the Aloe Cottage drive-way and is to be encouraged - see the little village nestling below; enjoy the expanse of agricultural land, the marvellous 360 degree view; the beauty which is Prince Albert.

There are wonderful day trips to be enjoyed - ‘The Hell’ in Gamkaskloof, olive and fruit farms, Bergwater Cellars for wine tasting on the way to natures stunning Meiringspoort; and, of course, the historic Swartberg Pass, completed by Thomas Bain in 1888. Choose this route to take you to yet another marvel - the Cango Caves just outside Oudtshoorn.

Or simply enjoy gentle strolls of your hosts’ unique 8 acre indigenous Karoo garden where seating has been strategically placed for moments of quiet reflection.

Aloe Cottage is a haven of peace and tranquillity.
