DESCRIPTION:
138 Marine Beachfront Guesthouse is an elegant, up market guesthouse with spectacular sea front views. It is one of the few guesthouses in the Hermanus area which is situated right at the beachfront - any closer and you’d have a whale in your bath!
Spend lazy, sun-filled afternoons on the spacious terrace with panoramic views of the ocean and the surrounding mountains. Relax with a glass of estate wine on the deck next to the beach, or in front of the cosy open fire place and enjoy spectacular African sunsets over the Atlantic Ocean. Or stroll along the coastal path among rock pools, sea shells and fynbos bordering the guesthouse.
Accommodation
No attention to detail has been spared in the superbly stylish décor. The four luxurious designer suites are individually fitted with all modern comforts, meeting international standards: king or queen-sized beds decked in 400-thread count Percale linen, underfloor heating, heated towel rails, satellite TV, wireless internet access, complimentary tea & coffee making facilities, electronic safes, and overhead fans. The spacious, dedicated family room has a separate entrance with a small lounge area and can be equipped with a beautiful cot by request.

Luxury: Mountain view. Stylishly decorated with queen size bed, decked in 400-thread count percale linen. Twin basins and spacious shower in en suite bathroom
Seastar Family Room
Standard: Private entrance, separate from main building. One double bed, single beds/cot as requested (up to 2). North-facing windows. DSTV. En-suite bathroom with shower.
Facilities
The extensive breakfast menu changes daily. On request, a picnic can be provided to enjoy on the beach in front of the guest house, and on-site wellness therapies can be arranged.
Location
138 Marine is only five minutes from the Hermanus town centre, renowned for the best shore-based whale watching experience anywhere on the globe. It is close to two world-class golf courses and 7 reputable wineries in the area.
Attractions & Activities
138 Marine is a stone’s throw from unspoiled beaches and a quaint assortment of village restaurants, country markets, boutiques, bars, art galleries, and charming little shops.
It is an enchanting base from which to explore one of the world’s most magnificent eco-destinations with whale watching from land or boat, great white shark cage viewing and diving from Gansbaai, bird watching by dingy on the Stanford River, mountain and fynbos walks in the Fernkloof nature reserve, dune horse riding, or visiting the penguin colony and Harold Porter Botanical Gardens at nearby Betty’s Bay.
A little further afield and easy day trips include wine tasting at the many wineries in the area, 4X4 driving trails, the southernmost tip of Africa at Cape Agulhas, the caves and beach at De Kelders, the Mission station at Elim, the picturesque Kassiesbaai fisherman’s village at Arniston and the historic Greyton and Genadendal rural villages.

DIRECTIONS:
From Cape Town International Airport
Take the N2 Highway North from Cape Town International Airport past Somerset West, over Sir Lowry's Pass. After Houw Hoek Pass, take the R43 Botrivier/ Hermanus turnoff to your left. Travel approximately 26 km past Hawston, Vermont and Onrus. At the 2nd set of traffic lights (2km before Hermanus), turn right at the SANDBAAI/Hemel en Aarde junction into Main Road (at Engen Garage). Continue until you reach the T-junction at the beach front. Turn right into Marine Drive (‘Kusweg’). Number 138 is clearly signposted 500 meters down the road on your right.
From Cape Town via the coast on the R44
Take the N2 Highway towards Somerset West. Turn left on the R44 to Strand (just past the Shell Garage). Proceed past Strand until you reach Gordon's Bay. Travel on the R44 along the coastal road to Rooi-els, Hangklip, Betty's Bay and Kleinmond. Continue through Kleinmond and join the R43 to HERMANUS. Continue past Hawston, Vermont and Onrus.
