Although there’s a constant flush of new flowers throughout the year, some of the most spectacular shrubs, including the Protea and Pincushion, are in full bloom between June and September. Whale-watching: The De Hoop Nature Reserve and Marine Sanctuary is the breeding ground of choice for Southern Right whales that visit the African coastline between July and November each year. The high sand dunes and sandstone cliffs near Koppie Alleen offer some of the most spectacular land-based whale watching in the world.
