Ladismith Accommodation / The Greenroof Farm Ladismith Accommodation / Self Catering Farm in Ladismith

The Greenroof Farm is an historic 1852 farmhouse nestled in the peaceful Buffelsdrift valley, with panoramic views of the Klein Swartberg. It is an easy 15km drive from Ladismith and 8km off the renowned Route 62. For visitors travelling from Cape Town, it's a scenic 313km drive along South Africa's longest wine route.

Swap the stresses of the city for the unique stillness and tranquility of the Klein Karoo. At The Greenroof Farm you can meander through the fynbos on the farm’s koppie or stroll down to the river at the bottom of the farm. But many who have visited have found it hard to leave the comfort of the farmhouse's original stoep, which offers panoramic views of the Klein Swartberg over the farm's vineyard.

For the more active, the farm is ideally positioned for mountain bikers who want to build up their stamina or take it easy, with a wide choice of routes of varying distances that take you along the foothills of the mountain range, down neighbouring farm roads or through rustic farm communities.

Attractions & Activities

The Greenroof Farm gives you easy access to many of the Klein Karoo’s most impressive sights and scenery. On its doorstep is a network of quaint farming communities and lush wine farms, with their distinctive Klein Karoo Cape Dutch architecture. There’s also easy access for those hikers eager to view the Klein Karoo from the heady heights of Ladismith’s landmark Towerkop, renowned for its distinctively cleaved rock face visible for hundreds of kilometres.

The magnificent, and little-known, Seweweekspoort pass is within easy driving distance. For the more adventurous, there’s Gamkaskloof Dam, an eerily quiet valley only accessible by 4x4 or off-road motorbike. The remote Anysberg nature reserve, which offers access to numerous rock art sites and horseriding trails, is a mere 30 minute drive away. Slightly further afield, the charming village of Barrydale; Calitzdorp, the port capital of the country; the eye-catching Red Stone Hills and the rugged Swartberg pass are all accessible in a day’s outing.
