AccommodationThe historic homestead, built in 1915, has been lovingly restored to its former splendour by the owners, Cor and Dineke Ehlers. Modern venues can never compete with the atmosphere created by Poplar Grove's lofty dimensions, pressed-steel ceilings, Oregon pine floors, grand fireplaces and its rose, herb and vegetable gardens. The original 19th century homestead, built of local stone and yellowwood beams brought from the Eastern Cape in the 1870s, has survived the Anglo-Boer war and is now also being restored.
