Petra Mountain Retreat and Conference Centre is a Christian resort nestled on the ridge of Legogote Mountain in the scenic Lowveld and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding flora and fauna. Petra Mountain is conveniently situated a mere 15 minutes drive from the Kruger National Park, 30 minutes from Nelspruit, 10 minutes from White River, 20 minutes from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport and close to many of the Lowveld’s attractions.

This is not only an ideal Bed and Breakfast retreat as a stopover on the way to the Park, as a sleepover for businessmen, and as a holiday home from which to explore the rich beauty of the Lowveld, but is also the perfect venue for weddings, conferences, retreats, confirmation weekends, marriage guidance workshops, Alpha Courses and more. The breakaway venues at Petra Mountain are heavenly.

Accommodation

The spacious bedrooms are comfortable and attractively furnished and all are en-suite. The rooms are set high amongst the trees placing guests at eye-level with the birds and contributing much to the wonderful sense of peace and serenity one feels at Petra Mountain. There is also a facility for one to make a relaxing cup of tea or coffee in the bedroom. All the rooms are non-smoking.

The gardens of Petra are a peaceful retreat for the weary traveller. The mountain offers spectacular views over the Lowveld and indigenous bush. Guests are welcome to explore - walking, bird watching or just relaxing in the serene environment or cooling down in the pool on hot summer afternoons.

On a clear day, drink in the majestic atmosphere from the Prayer Rock which juts out of the mountain offering panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. On a cool day snuggle up with a good book and a hot drink in front of a huge fire in the lounge.

Breakfast

A continental breakfast is served in the dining room or on the verandah, or you may opt for the luxury of a breakfast basket in your room.

Conferences and Weddings

Petra Mountain Retreat and Conference Centre is an ideal venue for weddings, conferences and strategic planning sessions, training courses, team building, retreats, workshops, marriage encounter weeks, confirmation courses as well as motivational youth camps and school groups. Wherever possible groups will have sole use of the venue.

Petra Mountain has an abundance of venues for courses available for the above purpose including idyllic spots for “breakaway sessions”. Our Dining Room seats 50 people comfortably and has glass doors opening onto the covered patio (also making an ideal eating venue) and swimming pool (and of course the magnificent view). The thatched “Lapa” has a data projector for big screen projection of presentations, videos, and DVDs with conference seating for up to 30 in seating configurations of your choice. There is also a prayer room, a computer centre, a large lounge with fireplace, and a TV room. We are able to cater for conferences for more than a day as well one-day conferences and part-day conferences.

A comprehensive office provides backup - photocopying and printing as well as fax and email facilities. Conference delegates are assured of exclusivity and personal service from management and staff. This superb conference venue is only three and a half hours from OR Tambo International Airport, 20 minutes from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport and close to many of the Lowveld amenities.
