About The Oaks Estate
The Oaks Estate is a historic, recently restored Cape Dutch farmyard and working farm, with a mountain reserve and various activities, just outside Greyton in the Western Cape. The farm offers a wedding & function venue, luxury accommodation and authentic farm experience. The beautiful country setting of the Estate on the banks of the Riviersonderend River at the foot of the majestic Zonderend Mountains, is 90 minutes drive from Cape Town.
The farm is owned and managed by the Ehlers family who farms the land with beef cattle, fruit and grapevines for boutique wine production. The homestead and ‘werf’ has a rich history dating back to 1727. The six newly restored buildings that form the farmyard is ‘one of the best examples of a complete Cape Dutch Style farmyard in the Western Cape’.
The nearby tranquil but sophisticated Greyton village is one of the best country destinations in South Africa. The village has a selection of fantastic restaurants, coffee shops, delis and galleries. The charming village together with the working farm and mountain reserve offers the perfect getaway.
The Luxury Suites:
We have two Luxury Suites one has a double bed and the other twin beds. The suites are tastefully decorated with antique furniture and rich fabric in the grand splendour of the early 1800’s, when the Estate was known for breeding the best racehorses in the Cape Colony. The room has an incredible view of the countryside and is also visible from the freestanding bath.
The Loft Rooms:
With views over the yard towards the mountain in the north, and vineyard & river in the south, the 3 loft rooms are individually & stylishly decorated with a modern country feel. The loft has its own lounge, dining room and kitchen area for the use of the guests and is perfect to accommodate families or groups.
All rooms are en-suite with DSTV and air conditioning. Rooms are on a B&B basis with special arrangements optional for lunch and dinner. The loft rooms can also be booked as self-catering.
The Farm House (sleeps 6):
The farm house is spacious, comfortable and perfect for family groups or couples travelling together. The Farm house consists of three bedrooms. Two rooms have a double bed with an en-suite bathroom in each room. The third bedroom has two single beds. There is also an additional separate toilet.
The farm house has air conditioning, a television with DSTV in the central lounge area, private “stoep” with braai facilities (indoor as well as outdoor). The kitchen is fully equipped with all necessary appliances and self catering equipment.

The cottage is perfect for a honeymoon couple.

The family cottage consists of two bedrooms, kitchen and an indoor fire place. The master bedroom has a double bed with en-suite bathroom (no bath). The second bedroom which is connected to the master bedroom has two single beds. This cottage is fully equipped for self catering. DSTV available.
WEDDINGS & EVENTS
This recently renovated, grand old Cape Dutch farmyard on The Oaks Estate sets a magnificent setting for weddings, conferences and other functions. The old Wine cellar (Function Venue) can accommodate up to 100 guest in a dinner style set up. The building has a fully serviced kitchen with large cooler room and a cellar below floor level visible through a glass floor section.
For larger weddings (more than 100 guests), a special area in the yard has been prepared to set up a tent which is easily accessible from the kitchen, ablution, electricity points and other facilities. The use of the farm and mountain reserve is also available to the wedding party for photos, drinks, etc.
The Manor House provides accommodation for 10 guests, which we normally recommend for the use of the bride and groom and / or close family. Greyton has some fantastic B&B’s and self catering cottages, although the farm is located close enough for guest to drive out from Cape Town and the surrounding area. The farm and village offers the perfect setting for an exclusive weekend country wedding.
