The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) Conference Centre is the ultimate venue for your next conference, seminar or function. Situated close to the beachfront, airport and all major hotels is a unique Conference Venue.

The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) Conference Centre is situated on the Port Elizabeth Beach Front, close to the airport and local hotels. The up to the minute audio visual equipment, air-conditioning in all venues and exquisite on-site catering make this the ideal venue for your next conference, seminar or product launch.

The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) Conference Centre has 3 conference rooms. The Theatre accommodates a maximum of 120 people and 2 smaller venues accommodate 40 and 12 delegates respectively. All venues are equipped with a full range of standard equipment. The Theatre has more advanced audio visual and sound equipment. A well designed foyer for cocktails & exhibitions and a dining room seating a maximum of 120 people also form part of this ideal venue.

All venues are wheel chair friendly and both bathrooms are geared for the disabled. Each venue is air-conditioned. Secure parking is available directly in front of or behind the Conference Centre.

Catering

Catering at The Conference Centre is provided by the current contract caterers Kagiso Khulani Supervision Food Services. We have an extensive selection of set menus for all occasions. From breakfasts to banquets, teas to cocktails. We provide superb quality with the professional touch.

PORT ELIZABETH CONFERENCE VENUES

The Theatre:
Seating: Cinema Style - maximum of 120 delegates. Equipment: Audio visual equipment comprises of a data projector with computer interface, video facility, and 35mm slide projector. All geared for rear projection on a large 2.2 x 2.5m screen. 3 Stage lighting and comprehensive sound system with conference taping facilities, Overhead projector with 2 motorised screens. All equipment can be activated through a hand held remote control.

Venue 2:
Seating: U Shape - 35 People Maximum. Schoolroom Style - 40 People Maximum. Equipment: The venue has standard equipment including overhead projector & screen, flip chart & markers, whiteboard & pens. TV/Video & slide projectors may be arranged at an additional charge.

Venue 3:
Seating: U Shape - 10 People Maximum. Schoolroom Style - 12 People Maximum. Equipment: The venue has standard equipment including overhead projector & screen, flip chart & markers, whiteboard & pens. TV/Video & slide projectors may be arranged at an additional charge.

Foyer:
The foyer is used for teas, finger lunches, evening cocktails, bars, buffets and is ideal for exhibitions & stands. The foyer can accommodate approximately 200 people standing.

Lounge:
The executive lounge is a cosy lounge for small meetings, waiting guest speakers.

Restaurant:
The restaurant is used for small wedding, dinners, banquets, buffets, conference lunches. Seating: With a dance floor and buffet - 70 guests. With a dance floor and no buffet - 90 guests. With no dance floor and no buffet - 120 guests.

AUDITORIUMS:
Auditoriums on Campus include the Goldfields Auditorium (Summerstrand Campus) - Cinema Style Seating: 654 delegates and MMM Loubser (College Campus) - Cinema Style Seating: 722 delegates (222 in the gallery, 500 ground floor). Auditoriums are hired out with basic stage and house lights. Sound and additional lighting is arranged by the prospective client.

WEDDING VENUES

A wedding day must be memorable and special without the bridal couple having to worry unnecessarily about all the finer details. To take the hassle out out of hiring a venue the Port Elizabeth Technikon’s Conference Centre is the ideal place to celebrate this most special of days.

Restaurant:
The restaurant décor is flexible enough to compliment your choice of colour scheme and is ideally suited for your most memorable day. The restaurant can seat up to 100 guests with a dance floor and 120 without.

The Foyer:
This area is perfect for serving those arrival cocktails and the ambience created by the lighting and indoor garden is ideal for photographs.

The Theatre:
For those couples who do not want to have their ceremony in a church. The theatre is transformed into an ideal venue for taking those special vows. Seating up to 120 guests. All the venues offered at the PE Technikon’s conference centre are air-conditioned and wheelchair friendly.

Room layout and colour scheme:
The bridal table is set up according to the couple’s specifications while an additional cake table and gift table may be set on either side of the main table. Guests are seated at rectangular tables accommodating eight to ten people. White linen tablecloths and napkins are provided and overlays are available at no additional charge.

Catering & Bar:
While several popular set menus are available a menu can also be designed to suit specific needs. A fully licensed bar facility and comprehensive wine list are available.

Flowers:
Several local florists are familiar with the venue, which makes choosing the perfect arrangement simpler.

Music:
Background music and a public address system are available at no additional cost, while a disco or live band would have to be arranged.
