Set against the magnificent mountainscape of Hout Bay, Makuti Lodge is an idyllic retreat for a relaxing holiday. In these tranquil surroundings the ever-changing mountain and valley views combine with fresh mountain air to regenerate body and soul. Makuti Lodge is set in a tranquil valley bordered by the Cape Mountain Reserve. You can walk from your cottage directly onto the mountain where there are several walks of varying difficulty (including Myburg's Waterfall ravine, renowned for its disas in summer).

Makuti Lodge offers five charming self-catering cottages (two x 1 bedroom, two x 2 bedroom, one x 3 bedroom) and a sparkling pool is set in an extensive lush Fynbos garden. The fully equipped cottages are tastefully decorated to make you feel comfortable and at home. All cottages have their own private garden area and patio for entertainment with large canvas umbrella and teak table/chairs. There are lovely fireplaces in each cottage, with firewood provided. The furniture is a mixture of colonial and cottage style. Kitchens are fully equipped, with new appliances. Each cottage has television with a generous satellite selection, plus DVD and hi-fi, private telephone and wi-fi internet connection. Pure cotton or cotton percale linen with summer or winter duvets. All linen and bath towels are provided.

Makuti Cottage (sleeps 4):
Makuti Cottage comprises a large lounge/dining room and separate well equipped kitchen with dishwasher. The main bedroom with queen bed has an en-suite shower room and the second bedroom with twin beds has an en-suite bath/shower room, with washing machine. The cottage flows onto a small garden area and lovely patio set in a garden amphitheatre, which is a short walk to the pool.

Oregon Cottage (sleeps 6):
Oregon Cottage is a double story home with two bedrooms (the main bedroom with a queen bed and the second bedroom with twin beds) and two bath/shower rooms upstairs and a charming balcony off the main bedroom. Downstairs there is a third bedroom (with queen bed) and the well appointed lounge / dining room and separate galley-style fully equipped kitchen (with dishwasher, washing machine) lead out onto a private patio and garden area with views of the adjacent Constantia mountain peaks and Forest.

Cedar Cottage (sleeps 4):
Cedar Cottage has the best flow to the garden and swimming pool which has afforded it great popularity. Cedar comprises a large main bedroom with charming bay window looking onto the garden with en-suite shower room, a separate family bathroom and second large bedroom with twin beds and an extra single bed. There is a large, beautifully appointed lounge / dining and a separate well equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine.

The Loft Cottage (sleeps 2-4):
Loft Cottage comprises a spacious bedroom with king bed + en-suite bathroom (shower over bath) and down a charming Victorian spiral staircase, there is a well appointed lounge / dining area with separate fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. For a family of 4 on a budget, a 2nd bedroom with en-suite shower room can be available which leads off the Loft cottage lounge/kitchen. The best views of the garden, valley and mountains from every window. Access from the garden is via a rustic pathway which winds charmingly through the garden.

Maple Cottage (sleeps 2):
A cosy cottage, ideal for budget travellers, or as an annex to a larger family cottage for added privacy. The cottage comprises a bright and well appointed lounge and dining room with a well equipped kitchenette. The entrance of the cottage is gained via an enclosed patio with barbecue facilities. On the other side of the lounge, is a second enclosed patio within a quaint garden area, which meanders down to the pool. A few steps up from the lounge is a bright and cheerful bedroom with queen bed and separate shower room.
