In a charming residence built in 1913, set in an exclusive suburban setting, sits the original farmhouse of Oaklands, a hidden heritage treasure. Tastefully restored, and beautifully decorated in an eclectic style, Haswell House epitomises restful and gracious living.

Accommodation

There are three bedrooms en suite, each with their own private patio. Each spacious room is decorated individually with charm and style and includes twin or king size beds dressed in pure white luxury linen.

All rooms come standard with air-conditioning / heating, Wi-Fi, flat-screen televisions with DSTV, hairdryers and tea and coffee stations. The generous bathrooms are designed for maximum comfort, with dressing gowns, slippers and toiletries provided, as well as heated towel rails and separate showers.

The Hadeda Suite
The Hadeda Suite is decorated in an African eclectic style with its own log fireplace and entrance.

The Jacaranda Suite
The Jacaranda Suite has a feel of its own, with Middle Eastern décor and hand painted details.

The Garden Suite
The Garden Suite is elegant and spacious, leading onto the garden with an en-suite bathroom opening onto a private patio so that you can bath under the stars.

Dining

All the food at Haswell House is home cooked, including the freshly made bread served with every meal. Enjoy lavish brunches, high teas, and gourmet four-course dinners served in the Rose Dining Room or outside under the wooden eaves of an open-sided pool house. The romantic ambience of candlelit dinners on crisp white linen tablecloths ensures a memorable moment of old colonial hospitality. Then relax after dinner in the adjoining honesty bar, boasting art treasures and award winning wines.

In autumn and winter spend the days enjoying our endless pots of tea and coffee served with freshly made cakes, biscuits and pastries. In the cool, crisp Highveld evenings, sip on a pre-dinner drink in front of a log fire in the elegant lounge; or sit on the veranda watching the magnificent African sunset, wrapped in a warm blanket, and listening to the screeching of the hadeda birds as they return to their nests in our old oak tree.

The sounds of birds and the flowering of the garden herald the arrival of spring and summer. In summer you are invited to unwind at the pool area while enjoying your lunch or dinner served to you at the pool house. From barbecues, or “braais”, with all the African traditional trimmings to English Sunday roasts, the resident chef is waiting to serve you.

Whether booking a conference, planning an intimate wedding or simply stealing away for a romantic weekend away, our specialty is to tailor-make your stay to suit your needs. Our 24-hour team will arrange all your onward bookings, sightseeing tours, and airport transfers. They will even pack sandwiches for your lunch if you’ll be out on business for the day.

Your security whilst at Haswell House is of utmost importance to us, and the property is fully walled and secured with electric fencing. We have a 24-hour response unit in case of emergencies with safe off-road parking for your hire vehicle.

Other services which we offer at a small additional cost include all your laundry requirements, as well as transfers to and from shopping malls or events.
