Attractions & Activities
Struisbaai is in a natural bay and is well known for its 14 kilometers of uninterrupted white beach with safe waters for swimming and long beach walks. Southern Right whales visit from June to December to calve and mate. The ocean is rich in scuba diving wrecks. Rock angling, hiking, bird watching, whale watching trips by charter, 4x4 coastal tours, deep sea fishing and pleasure trips, horse riding, eco quad nature trails and water sports are some of the activities you can enjoy.

Nearby Bredasdorp hosts the Kapula Candle factory and Julian’s Pottery Place as well as the shipwreck museum. Various artefacts collected from the wrecked ships along this coastline have been placed in the Shipwreck museum in Bredasdorp.

Arniston, also known as Waenhuiskranz. Visit the amazing cave at low water and stroll through Kassiesbaai fishing village with its unique fishermen’s cottages which are typical of the region. The long beach stretching away from the harbour is safe for swimming. A golf course, tennis and bowls facilities are available. Also visit the Cape Agulhas Lighthouse and the cairn marking the Southernmost Tip of Africa.

The Cape Agulhas Lighthouse is the second oldest working lighthouse in South Africa and was built in 1848 in Pharos style. It houses a museum and restaurant. The name is probably inspired by the fact that the compass needles of early Portuguese navigators showed no deviation between true and magnetic north. The Meisho Maru 38 lies 4km west of Agulhas. One of over 125 wrecks along this 100 kilometer stretch of coastline known as the "graveyard of ships".
