A River Runs Through it ... Hands On Retreat is a Boutique Guest House and Retreat in Craighall, Johannesburg close to Rosebank, Sandton and the Hyde Park Corner shopping centre. It’s back to nature here: the setting is a park-like garden with a flowing lawn, abundant bird life, lots of tall trees and its own river flowing through it.

Guests have access to both sides of the river to enjoy the abundant bird life, meditate or just relax and enjoy nature at one of the many rest spots dotted around the garden. Weather permitting, refreshments are served on the outdoor veranda with its spectacular view.

Business travellers recharge and recover in our tranquil surroundings, yet we offer the most modern of amenities including WiFi access in all the rooms, the patios and onto the garden. We offer complimentary neck and shoulder massages late in the afternoon to welcome you home.

Accommodation


The Apart Hotel is a popular Brazilian concept - it’s both a hotel room and an apartment with a kitchenette. Guests may choose to cater for themselves using the microwave oven, refrigerator and other conveniences. We also cater for lunches and dinners by arrangement.

We have six Apart-hotel units available, each with its own private garden entrance; en-suite bathroom with bath and shower; and kitchenette with granite top, refrigerator and microwave oven. All our rooms have extra length and depth queen sized beds, under floor heating, mini safe and flat screen TV with 14 satellite channels. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided in each unit.

The Premium Units feature double sized Jacuzzi baths and double shower - ideal for that special anniversary, wedding and honeymoon.

Facilities


We encourage our guests to make use of the lounge, veranda and patio areas. We are a non-smoking establishment, but guests are welcome to smoke in the garden. We have secure off-street parking and a guard on duty 24hrs per day.

Spa


The Hands on Retreat blends into the natural surroundings: the outdoor Jacuzzi bath, housed in its own shelter, overlooks the river and the Treatment Rooms and Steam Capsule are situated on the bank of the river under the tall trees. Weather permitting, we also offer pamper treatments in the garden and on the patio. Guests can book for spa treatments online or at reception.

Our inspired treatments rejuvenate the tired body and mind and are tailor made to suit the individual and couple.
