Set on an acre of beautiful gardens, in a prestigious northern suburb of Johannesburg, you awake to the sounds of birds although only 5kms from the business centre of Sandton City. Spacious entertainment areas decorated in a mix of antiques and artefacts collected by the owners make this a place to relax and experience the hospitality of South Africa. Persian rugs on wooden parquet flooring together with fireplaces in the reception rooms and library add to the charm.

Accommodation

All bedrooms overlook the tranquil gardens and large pool and are spacious and individually decorated. Beautiful linen and luxury bathroom amenities, biscuits and fruit in the rooms and turn-down service in the evenings indicate the attention to detail and service at Grendon House.

Room 1 has a twin or king extra length bed and fireplace and opens onto the garden with a private patio. It has an en-suite shower. Both Room 2 and room 3 are upstairs and have solid wooden floors and large windows overlooking the garden. Room 2 has twin beds and private shower with underfloor heating. Room 3 is a double room with en-suite bathroom and underfloor heating.

All rooms have flat screen HD TV’s and DSTV and safes for your peace of mind, as well as hairdryers and tea and coffee trays with ground coffee and Bodum plungers. There is ample secure parking and Grendon House is wireless as well as having a PC, connected to the internet, and fax available for our guests’ convenience. We also offer laundry service.

Breakfast and Dining

Breakfast is served either in the garden or in the gracious dinning room. Enjoy a selection of cereals, yoghurts and cheeses, and a tempting cooked meal each morning. Although Grendon House is well situated to experience excellent Johannesburg restaurants all meals are available by arrangement and are a welcome alternative to restaurant outings after a busy day.

Activities and Attractions

Grendon House is close to prestigious Hyde Park shopping centre, Sandton City and Sandton Gautrain Station and Sandton International Convention Centre as well as Sandton and Morningside Mediclinics. The owners love Johannesburg and enjoy giving their guests insights in to this vibrant city with its many boutique shopping areas and art galleries.

Visits to Soweto, The Apartheid Museum, Cradle of Mankind or The Elephant Sanctuary make easy and enjoyable daytrips. Golf can be arranged. Advice and recommendations for travel in South Africa, and the rest of Africa, is given by the well-travelled owners. All transfers and tours can be arranged.
