Donann is set amongst the pristine bushveld and rocky hills less than an hour’s drive north of Johannesburg. Situated within the world heritage site at Broederstroom the peace and seclusion offered is both therapeutic and stress relieving. The visitor is able to walk in the open grassland and view the indigenous fauna and flora. Kudu, hares and monkeys have been known to visit the homestead. Donann offers the unique opportunity of staying in rural Africa, whilst being less than 1 hour from the Johannesburg, Sandton, Pretoria metropolis. ACCOMMODATIONAt present 2 guestrooms, with queen size beds are available. One room is situated within the main house, the other a Rondavel in the garden; all offer a magnificent vista of hills and grassland. Adjacent private bathrooms for each room, fitted with hot and cold running water and flushing toilets and all modern conveniences, offer all the comforts of home. LOCATIONIn Broederstroom, just north of Johannesburg, conveniently situated on the R512 between Johannesburg and Pretoria and on the main route to Sun City and Hartebeespoort Dam. ATTRACTIONSSituated close to the Hartebeespoort Dam in the Magaliesberg mountain range, there is an abundance of activities available which include game drives, walking trails, guided Anglo-Boer history tours, craft markets, horse-riding, bird-watching, tennis, bowls and two excellent golf courses. There is a scenic cableway ride to the top of the Magaliesberg, and aquarium, bird-park and local zoo also in close proximity. The famous De Wildt Cheetah breeding farm is situated on the northern slopes of the Magaliesberg, and a Cape Vulture colony may be seen on the southern cliff face. There are many restaurants and special pubs in the area, including a floating restaurant on the dam. Ox-wagon trails are available and the well-known Sterkfontein and Wonder caves, together with the Rhino reserve are situated a few kilometers to the south. The area around the Hartebeespoort Dam is a favourite locality for artists, and paintings, sculptures, handmade dolls, furniture and a wide variety of original clothing may be purchased. The Magaliesberg Meander is also within easy reach, as are balloon safaris, candle factories and a Dutch cheese farm. ACCREDITATIONS
