About Country Cabin

Country Cabin is peaceful, private and secluded, surrounded by beautiful views and stunning sunsets. Yet only a 7 minutes' drive takes you to the beaches, shops and restaurants. Therefore it is 'the best of both worlds'.

Something rare and special: you have the sunrise and the sunset both over the sea; breathtaking sunrise over St Helena Bay with the mountains in the distance and golden sunsets over the Bay of Paternoster.

In complete privacy, the Country Cabin offers you an irresistible opportunity to enjoy the calm waters of the bay; whale and dolphin watching, boat trips up the Bergriver, and of course, hundreds of bird species to be seen. The more adventurous can go swimming, surfing, horse riding, kite-boarding, fishing, sea kayaking and 'mussel jiving'.

Central to the most popular tourist attractions, the Country Cabin is perfect from which to discover the West Coast and it’s surrounds. Coming home to the Country Cabin will be a treat, after a day of exploring Postberg, Tietiesbaai and quaint, picturesque small villages such as Paternoster, Elands Bay, Lamberts Bay and Langebaan - a superb way to meet with the locals and experience their culture and food. Closer still is Shelley Point with its luxurious country club and spa with a choice of restaurants and wellness centre. Enjoy sporting activities like golf, tennis & bowls.

This delightful self-catering cabin is well equipped; air-conditioned / heated & TV. The cosy bedroom, with a double bed / bathroom, caters for one couple and can comfortably accommodate a child on the futon in the lounge. Linen/towels are provided - except for beach towels - as is an additional outside shower for use after trips to the beach.

The open plan kitchen / lounge leads onto a lovely patio for you to enjoy breakfasts and sundowners, right next to the rustic boma for your braais, whilst enjoying the glorious views. An ideal setting for walks and cycling, a little to the side is the pool where you can cool off on a warm day. Buck, duikers, hares, tortoises and a rich variety of birds keep you company.

The Local Area

The West Coast is well known for its yearly spring flower displays turning the veld into a wonderland, with shows at nearby Hopefield and Darling.

With more than 200 species the cabin is a birdwatcher’s paradise and hides can be visited at Rocher Pan and the Berg River estuary, home to countless sea birds of all description.

The Country Cabin is well situated for day trips to the Cape Gannet colony at Lambert’s Bay, an important breeding place for the threatened species, as well as the few remaining jackass penguins.

The West Coast National Park, near Langebaan was established to protect the area's wealth of natural life, allowing nature to take its course unhindered by man in the areas now associated with endangered fauna and flora. The shores of the lagoon have a myriad examples of life: countless molluscs, crustaceans and other living organisms.

Game can be spotted in the reserve, including antelope, zebra, wildebeest, ostriches, Cape wildcats and many smaller animals and tortoises. As a bonus for birdwatchers, birds of prey perch on posts, unhindered by passing cars.

At the West Coast Fossil Park, see fossils of bears, sabre-tooth cats, short-necked giraffes and many other exotic animals which inhabited the west coast area some 5 million years ago, or take part in activities such as nature / bike trails through the park.

There is a huge variety to discover on the West Coast, enjoy it!

Or you can just chill out at the pool, followed by a sundowner and a cosy braai.
