About Cheriton Guest House B&B
Cheriton Guest House offers cosy accommodation with warm, friendly service in a century old home overlooking False Bay and the historic naval town of Simon’s Town. The well preserved, elegant Victorian house dates back to 1898.
Set against the mountain in the quiet suburb of Seaforth, porcupine are frequent nocturnal visitors and guinea fowl roost in the surrounding trees. Our tranquil garden offers abundant birdlife with over 30 different species visiting frequently. We are within easy walking distance of the penguins at Boulders, Seaforth Beach, restaurants and all the conveniences of the town.
The strong maritime theme throughout Cheriton is particularly noticeable in the ‘Just Nuisance’ pub. This honesty bar which is packed with naval artifacts is for the exclusive use of our guests. Attached to it is a room called the 'snug' which is stocked with various collections and board games for chilly winter evenings. Free Wi-Fi throughout the guesthouse. In the guest lounge a high speed computer with printing facilities is available.
All rooms have showers en-suite, Free Wi-Fi and are equipped with under floor heating, fans, fridges, microwaves, safes, 32” LED TV’s, DVD players, coffee and tea facilities with home made cookies, old brown sherry and bathroom amenities. We have an extensive collection of over 600 DVD’s which are free to our guests.
The ‘Outeniqua’ is a family room in the garden with a queen bed and double bunks in an annex with an interleading door.
The ‘Transvaal’ is near the braai area, has twin beds and a small kitchenette.
Emily Hobhouse Room
The ‘Emily Hobhouse’ leads off the pub. It is a favourite with guests who know it and call it the room with a pub-en-suite.
Protea & Drakensberg Rooms
The ‘Protea’ and the ‘Drakensburg’ have twin beds.
Simon van der Stel Room
The ‘Simon van der Stel’ has a romantic four poster double bed.
Breakfast is full English or Continental with yoghurt, fresh fruit and a selection of cereals. In summer breakfast is served on the “Garden-Deck “or “Captains Bridge” both offer spectacular views over false bay the mountains and the garden. In winter we serve in the dining room with our fire-place roaring in the background.
The 'deck' and 'the captains bridge' has a telescope and binoculars for viewing whales, dolphins, kayaks, naval vessels plus all the other activities that take place in the bay.
We speak English, German, Dutch and Afrikaans.
Attractions and activities
Cheriton is an ideal central location for all Cape Town’s main tourist attractions including Cape Point, Table Mountain, Robben Island, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and the Constantia Wine Route. Tours can be arranged and mountain bikes are available for hire.
