Champagne Sports Resort has been striving to make this award winning resort the perfect place for work and play. This is a difficult balance to achieve but following recent developments we believe we have created a truly unique destination catering for all guest requirements in an absolutely spectacular setting.

Following recent resort developments, Champagne Sports Resort can now accommodate up to 750 delegates at the foot of the majestic Drakensberg mountain range. The 40 new hotel rooms and four new luxurious executive suites enables us to offer a total of 152 hotel rooms and 91 time-share chalets of which the majority are three bedrooms (all rooms en-suite).

Other recently completed additions to the resort include an extended dining room and largely expanded buffet, a new Wellness Centre and coffee shop with adjoining lounge. Our new buffet and dining areas comfortable feed up to 700 guests with little queuing and complimented by an outstanding food offering rapidly gaining a reputation in the hospitality industry.

Accommodation

The resort offers a variety of superb, fully serviced accommodation. The 152 hotel bedrooms are made up of twin rooms, family rooms, and various suites, all with well-appointed bedrooms and either mountain views or garden views. A further 91 Timeshare Units on the estate are used for hotel accommodation subject to availability. The hotel has wheelchair access throughout and all bedrooms are linked to the main hotel buildings by way of thatch covered walkways.

Dining

Buffet Dining
The Champagne Sports Resort buffet experience is gaining a reputation for the large variety of wholesome and hearty dishes offered off our expanded buffets. We can now cater for up to 700 guests comfortably with little queuing.

Cathkin Arms Bar
Situated off the main dining room, Cathkin Arms is a popular meeting spot, especially on big sports days where a large screen TV broadcasts the action. The bar is open from 10h00 until late. No children under the age of 18 are allowed in Cathkin Arms after 19h00.

Conferences

Conferences are an extremely important sector of Champagne Sports business profile and every effort is made to ensure the smooth running of such events, no matter the size. We are also proud to announce completion of the new Buttress Conference and
Exhibition Centre as well as four new boardrooms.

Champagne Sports Resort now offers a total of 16 conference venues including the new state of the art Buttress Centre with a floor space of 1200m2 (usable area) which seats up to 1400 delegates and banquets 850 guests at round tables.

Other venues include:
• the Sentinel Room which seats up to 1000 delegates,
• the Monks Cowl Centre seating up to 550 delegates,
• the Summit Room seating up to 400 delegates
• and the more intimate venues ranging between 150 delegates down to the private boardrooms seating up to a maximum of 20 people.

Conference equipment includes the most up to date equipment with Crestron hand held controls through the bigger venues and all standard equipment through the smaller meeting areas. Delegates have internet access in the hotel and all venues and can utilise the business centre across from the new coffee shop.

Weddings

As one of the most romantic settings in the country, the Drakensberg is the ideal choice for your wedding, and with the quaint, thatched El Mirador chapel set just 50 meters from the hotel, Champagne Sports Resort is definitely the perfect wedding venue. We have three superb reception venues, all specifically designed for functions, and, as we are a licensed hotel, a full bar service is available. Basic decor and furniture is provided and a selection of menus is available.

With warm, friendly, professional and attentive service, Champagne Sports Resort guarantees your wedding day will be a memorable event. We can only confirm your venue two to three months beforehand, depending on the time of year you wish to book. This is due to the high conference demand for our venues.

BASKETBALL
A basketball court is situated on the activity area in front of the hotel. A basketball can be hired from the sports co-coordinator.

BOWLS
A bowling lawn is situated on the activity area in front of the hotel with bowls and all other equipment available for hire from the sports co-ordinator.

CHILDREN'S PLAY PARK
A children's play area is situated in the activity area and has a selection of activities available for the kids including a jungle gym.

GYMNASIUM
The gym at Champagne Sports Resort is well equipped. The gymnasium is situated in the welness centre below the Ondini Centre.

Below the main tennis courts is a full 9-hole Sports Putt course. Putters and balls are available from the Sports co-ordinators desk.

There are three "TimeShare" pools and two new swimming pools at the Resort..

TABLE TENNIS
Table Tennis is available and bats and balls are available from the Sports co-ordinators desk.

TENNIS
The resort has five all-weather tennis courts two of which are floodlit. Racquets and balls are available from the Sports co-ordinators desk.

VOLLEYBALL
Our Beach Volleyball court is situated near the main tennis courts on the lower activity area. The ball is available from the Sports co-ordinators desk.

Golf

Nestled within this spectacular leisure, conference and time-share resort is the magnificent clubhouse, which overlooks a hidden golfing masterpiece. The top 30 ranked championship golf course has been rated as SA’s most beautiful golf course in recent years with the clubhouse rated in the top 5 19th’s holes in SA.

The clubhouse is easily accessible from the resort and you have access to motorized golf carts and a well-stocked Pro-Shop.

The clubhouse has both ladies and gents change rooms which are fully equipped with showers, hand basins, toilets and secure lockers. A well stocked Pro-Shop provides for all your golfing needs including a selection of clubs, balls, gloves, shirts, hats and caps, as well as other golf paraphernalia. The halfway house offers a selection of light meals and drinks which can be enjoyed either in the indoor dining area or on the deck.

wellness centre

The Wellness Centre includes an upmarket salon and well fitted gymnasium. The salon has five treatment rooms, comfortable change rooms and a relaxing rest area with cane loungers which look up at the Champagne and Cathkin peaks. The gym is fully equipped for all forms of exercise including general cardiovascular and weight training.
