We welcome you to friendly hospitality and peaceful surroundings of a beef and timber farm. Butterfly Cottage is situated on our farm, in the Commondale farming area, 27km from Paulpietersburg en route towards Piet Retief. The cosy cottage is part of our garden and has a scenic view overlooking the farm dam, teeming with bird life. The farm dam is stocked with Florida Bass and is ideal for Catch and Release fishermen. Enjoy the scenic view from the cottage with cattle, buck and guinea fowl filling the panorama at different times of the year. Butterfly Cottage is the ideal stop over for nature lovers and those who enjoy the peace and quiet. AccommodationOur thatch roof cottage is ideal for a family of four. It has a bathroom leading off the main bedroom and two single beds upstairs in the loft. A cot for babies is also available. There is a small kitchenette with a microwave, kettle, fridge and a hotplate (for self catering guests). We have a television with DSTV in the lounge area of the cottage. Under cover parking is available next to the cottage. Breakfast and DiningEnglish or continental breakfasts are served on the verandah overlooking the pool and dam or if preferred, in the cottage. We also serve dinner on request. ActivitiesGuests can enjoy walks in tranquil surroundings on the farm. We have a bird hide on the dam for those who enjoy bird watching. For the keen fisherman, the dam is the ideal place to relax, just remember to bring your own rods. Our dam is also perfect for canoeing and rowing boats. We have an ideal mountain bike terrain through our plantations. Our swimming pool can be enjoyed by those who want to relax and soak up the sunshine. If guests are interested in seeing the farming activity, drives can be arranged to do so. Arrangements can also be made for the following activities: game viewing, horse riding and hunting. Location & AttractionsWe are within easy reach of: • Neighbouring Game Farms • Ithala Game Reserve • Natal Spa (Hot Water Springs, water slides, pools with different water temperatures) • Mkuze Game Reserve (which is a bit further away but can be done in a day) • The Kingdom of Swaziland (visit the Ezulwini Valley and follow the craft routes) • German Communities (Augsburg, Lüneburg, Braunschweig, Wittenberg are within easy reach) • Some of the Northern Natal Battlefields Butterfly Cottage is the ideal stop over from Johannesburg and/or the Kruger National Park en route to KwaZulu-Natal and / or the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast and Zululand.
