Blaauwbosch Trout Inn is situated just outside Waterval Boven on the edge of the Highveld. The hills and grassland give you a wonderful view of the Elandsvalley. A bounty of bird life, bushbuck, reedbuck, common duiker, aardwolf, aardvark, bushpig, jackal, porcupine, serval, wildcat, mongoose and vervet monkeys give you a great feel of the outdoors. Amazing ancient stone ruins are spread amongst the hills, which date back thousands of years.

Self Catering Accommodation


Eagle Cabin
Situated on the shore of the trout dam, the Eagle cabin sleeps 10 people, two in each of the two bedrooms, with a loft area providing sleeping space for six more guests. Fully equipped, with all linen and towels supplied, it also features its own braai area, fireplace, a library and two bathrooms. There is also place to build a bonfire. No TV.

Drongo Chalet
Also facing a dam but a quiet and secluded location from the rest of the accommodation, the Drongo Chalet is the ideal retreat for two people or even for single accommodation. It has its own shower and all linen and towels are supplied. Rounding off the retreat is a fireplace, braai area and deck over the dam. No TV.

Robinhouse
The Robinhouse is ideal for families – with three bedrooms and two bathrooms (main en suite) it offers ideal accommodation for a family of seven. Apart from a braai and bonfire area, it also features a library. All linen and towels are supplied. No TV.

Woodpecker
Don’t mind sharing your space with eight other people? The Woodpecker, with its six bunk beds, three showers and two separate toilets may well be ideal, especially if you are a backpacker. There is also a braai area, fireplace and bonfire area. Please note that only linen is supplied, please bring your own towels. No TV.

All units are at least 200m away from each other.

Services and Facilities


You can do fly-fishing for trout and bass, bird watching, mountain biking (bring your own bike) or a walk in the mountains looking at the ancient ruins. This is all available on the property. We have a heated swimming pool for your convenience. There are horses on the property to add to the peaceful atmosphere (they cannot be ridden).

Things to do in the area:


Paragliding, rock climbing, horse riding, mountain biking, Elandsriver Marathon, hiking trials, visit the nearby waterfall, Five Arch Bridge and Adam’s Calendar (ancient stone ruins).

Two towns are situated near the property, Waterval Boven (7km) and Machadodorp (10km). There are restaurants in both towns. The Kruger Park is 150km away, Bourkes Luck Potholes 180km away, Sabie 130km away, God’s Window 160km away and Dullstroom 70km away.

We allow pets, but this has to be confirmed before booking accommodation.
We allow all children, and we allow children 2 years and younger to stay for free.
