Birdsong Cottage Number 9 is a magnificent self-catering home in the Central region of the mighty Drakensberg range of mountains.

Self Catering Accommodation

Number Nine is a beautifully renovated and refurbished home situated at the end of Poplar Drive with uninterrupted views of rolling hills, forests and a lake. The house has two large bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms (bath and shower) and a third bedroom with a shower only.

The fully equipped kitchen is open to the spacious dining room and lounge. Full DStv is provided and a Jetmaster fire gives genuine warmth to the whole area. The furniture is both comfortable and of top quality.

The sliding doors from this area lead onto a large wooden deck which has panoramic views of the area; again no expense has been spared and the deck furniture is of top quality. From the other side of the lounge you can access a covered patio area in case of inclement weather.

The house is equipped with all that you will need to ensure that you have a hassle free stay. All linen and towels are provided, the crockery is good quality (and all the same!) and the kitchen is thoughtfully equipped. There is a large kettle braai outside and a quality oven and hob in the kitchen. A cleaning service is included and our housekeeper is both honest and reliable. Covered parking is provided at the back of the house and accommodates two cars at a time.

Attractions and Activities

The Champagne Valley has many attractions and activities available to our guests, including the longest Canopy Tour in Africa, Falcon Ridge Bird of Prey display centre, top quality golf course, quad biking, walks in the World Heritage Site (mountains) and much more. A local hotel provides access to our guests (limited in peak season). For the shoppers, there is a rug and candle factory nearby, a craft based shopping experience at Thoksiza and local shops for emergency items. Visitors are advised to bring their groceries with them as these shops are not Woolworths!
