Bayete Zulu Game Lodge is part of the 22 000 ha Zululand Rhino Reserve, considered to be one of the most densely stocked and ecologically balanced in northern KwaZulu-Natal. The reserve boasts the big five along with a wide variety of other wild life.

Covering 2 300 ha of the Mkuze West portion of this reserve, Bayete Zulu Game Lodge consists of a varied landscape of mountains, open plains and dense riverine woodlands. The diversity of its flora and high carrying capacity make this an animal Eden, ensuring that regardless of weather or circumstance guests will always enjoy excellent game viewing with interesting drives and walks.

Self Catering Accommodation

In the heart of Zululand our private villa can be found. With eight luxurious suites and two honeymoon suites - our rooms are able to provide the perfect comfort for a family getaway, romantic escape or a corporate conference.

The lodge itself is a self-catering private villa. When booking accommodation with us you get exclusivity of the lodge rather than just a room. Although it is self catering there is still a highly qualified chef in the kitchen to aid with your cooking. Rooms are serviced once a day and you will be allocated a guide to take you on guided safari drives into the reserve twice a day.

All rooms are en-suite, fitted with spacious sunken baths and open showers - a reminder of the spectacular surroundings that the lodge is found within.

Each room, individually decorated and fitted with quality finishes, comprises of twin beds with a double fold-out ottoman for family escapes, finished with luxurious linen to ensure absolute comfort for our guests.

All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, ceiling fans and kettle.

In-room safes are provided for the safekeeping of all cash, travel documents and other such articles.

For a truly memorable dining experience, indulge yourself with a meal served the African way - under the stars in the great outdoors.

With walls made from branches and built up piece by piece. The Rano boma captures the drama of an African night and embraces the power of the wilderness.

The gathering pit at the Rano Boma also provides the perfect spot for a family to enjoy a BBQ or toast their marshmallows after dinner. The open-air dining area makes for the perfect venue to enjoy evening drinks while star gazing. An experience which will remain in your heart forever.

Facilities

Kitchen: The private villa is a self catering one however we do have a fully equipped kitchen for your personal use along with a highly qualified chef to assist you with your cooking.

The Viewing Deck: With a 180° view of the reserve in all its splendour, you can watch the sunrise or sunset if you are not out on one of the game drives with our professional field guides.

Jacuzzi: Unwind and soak up the great outdoors in the jacuzzi, while enjoying the flora and fauna of the Reserve. Spectacular sighting of elephants crossing the African bushveld while relaxing in the comfort and luxury of the warm water is an experience incomparable to any other.

Lounge: Indulge yourself with some rest and relaxation, before heading off on a safari excursion. Our lounge provides the perfect opportunity to laze around, enjoying the peace and tranquility of the Villa.

Starlight Bar: Our starlight bar overlooking the magical rim-flow pool is equipped with bar fridges for you to keep your refreshments chilled, glasses and an ice machine.

Rimflow Pool: Laze in the rim-flow poor while enjoying your refreshments.

Indaba Centre: Set away from the lodge, The Indaba Conference Centre provides a private conferencing facility, set in the most magnificent of surroundings. Facilities include Wireless connection for convenient plug in and go, flip boards and white boards.

With one wall under a retractable cover, move the cover and you are exposed to a sun deck with a view facing the Lebombo Mountains. If it’s hot, drop the cover with its see-through panel, and flick on the aircon. This is the perfect environment for everyone.
