Bayala Private Safari Lodges are a welcoming and affordable safari lodge accommodation in Hluhluwe in a 'Big 5 game reserve just 3 hours north of Durban, South Africa, in the ancient kingdom of Zululand. Vast and enchanting, the Bayala wilderness forms part of and traverses a 12 000 ha area of a 30 000 ha private safari and conservation heartland providing outstanding wildlife safaris in South Africa where all of Africa’s wildlife greats roam free

Accommodation

All rooms are offered on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis and includes a game drive.

Decor is refreshingly simple, appealing and serene. All rooms are furnished with either twin beds or a double bed.The rooms have en-suite bathrooms fitted with large walk-in showers, toilets and basins. The rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, guest amenities, quality linens, hot beverage facilities and hairdryers.

At Bayala life is lived with homespun finesse, and the lodges provide chic lounges and bars, dining areas both indoors and out under star-sprinkled skies, and a pool deck that keeps close company with the wilderness.

Dining

Meals are casual celebrations of South Africa’s favourite fire-cooked feasts: the braai and the potjie. For variety of experience, dinners are enjoyed in the stylishly casual atmosphere of the lodge, or around the fireside in the boma where the stars blink in the deep indigo night skies of Zululand.

Wildlife Activities

Daily safaris bring spectacular sightings of lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and rhino in their natural world, along with cheetah, zebra, giraffe and a remarkable variety of other wildlife.

The morning game drive unfolds the miracle of daybreak in the wilderness. Depart into the approaching dawn on a 4×4 safari vehicle with your guide. Watch the sunrise paint its glory across the vast plains, and see the wild world emerge fresh and new. Birds bring greetings, herds gather to drink at watering holes, and predators show themselves before taking shelter against the heat of day. Tracks, trails, middens and carcasses hint at the escapades of the night, and the ongoing rhythm of life in the wilderness unfurls.

The afternoon game drive departs when the heat of day begins to subside, and pauses to toast the sunset. After nightfall your safari hosts will track the impressive nocturnal animals that every safari-goer hopes to see. Expectancy mounts as your guide and tracker put their skills and acuity to good use. Add a measure of luck, and guests can look forward to sightings of Africa’s most legendary creatures.

A charming Wendy house invites young imaginations to run wild, providing a cozy space for creative play. For those with a competitive spirit, a miniature golf course, or putt-putt, offers an opportunity for friendly family tournaments.
