Horse Trails at Orange Valley Guest Farm

The Appaloosa, with its variety of brightly hued coat patterns, is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive of the world’s breeds. In the past fifty years the Appaloosa has come from near obscurity in America to ranking third in numerical standing amongst registered breeds of the USA, and is also rapidly gaining ground in South Africa.

Orange Valley Guest Farm in Gariep Dam offers pony rides for children, which are about 10 minutes in duration, and a guide leads the horses. A 1 ½ hour trail is available for the more adventurous guest. Walk, trot or canter along streams, the Orange River and wide-open plains. All trail horses are well trained and saddled with Western gear.
