Nestled adjacent to the N2 on the way to Grahamstown, only one hour from Port Elizabeth, the Kwantu Elephant Sanctuary lies in a malaria-free area.

It is surrounded by natural indigenous bush and is home to impala, bushbuck, blesbuck, blue wildebeest, springbuck, kudu, baboons, porcupine, caracal, leopard, a host of other small mammals, over 200 bird species and of course our five magnificent African Elephants.

Experience one of Africa's most spectacular creatures as they go about their lives. Experiencing the African bush from an elephant`s perspective - walking besides them or riding high allows you to get close to the animals. An Elephant not only is able to cope in water and sand with equal ease, but can also get quite close to other game, which is generally unaware of the human presence.

Experience our educational show which will include and educational talk and allows visitors to touch and feed the elephants and may incorporate a short ride. This experience allows you to learn more about these gentle giants - the true “King of the Beasts”.
