The Barkly East and Rhodes area is ideal for the 4x4 and bike enthusiast. Steep mountain tracks (up to 2750m) and challenging river crossings test your technical driving skills. Trails range from easy to very difficult.

Wild Mountain Adventures can provide maps and suggested itineraries for all types of vehicle and standard of driver. Guides and picnic lunches can also be arranged upon request. For the ultimate challenge, see if you can complete the 'Eight Passes Challenge' which includes Naude's Nek (the highest dirt road in South Africa) and many of the area's most scenic spots including:
