Go Horse Riding in Wild Mountain Country

Wild Mountain Adventures offers horse riding trails from a couple of hours to a multi-day trek visiting different farms. We provide well-schooled horses, suitable for all standards.

The Southern Drakensberg mountains between Barkly East and Rhodes offer fantastic views and exhilarating riding including mountain ascents and faster trails through the valleys for experienced riders.

It doesn’t matter if you have never ridden before - all rides are accompanied by qualified, experienced guides who can help you along the way. Picnic lunches are provided for longer rides.

A typical ride includes:
• Meet your horse, chosen depending on your experience and preferences
• Ride along the valley road with stunning views of the river
• Rest in a shady forest
• Climb the rugged mountain slopes, crossing small streams and gullies
• Stop for picnic lunch at cascading falls
• Optional hike on foot to an impressive waterfall dropping over 100m
• Return home on horseback

We can also arrange for your riding trip to be combined with other activities to form a multi-day adventure trail. Options include mountain-biking, hiking, river rafting, 4x4 trails, tubing, fly-fishing and skiing in winter.
